"Up and at 'em. Let's go." I said as I turned on the light revealing the messy room that contained my child. The boy groaned as he burrowed deeper into his blankets. I smiled softly at the sight. He was just like me and his father when we were his age.

"Come on. Up we go." I said as I picked him up and sat him on his feet. "Alright I'm up." He grumbled as he headed to the bathroom. I just shook my head before heading back downstairs to make his breakfast. A bowl of Frosted Flakes with a glass of orange juice, [S/N]'s favorite and mine. The 11-year-old came downstairs as I looked at him.

Dark blue hair that came from his father with a bit of a curl to it that came from me. The mix making his hair look like waves of the ocean. His knobby knees came from both of us while a patch of freckles that were highlighted in the sun was a unique touch to his face.

"Hurry up and eat before you're late. Again." I said as [S/N] squealed. "Oh shoot. Thanks for breakfast Mom but I got to run." He yelled as he barreled out the door with a piece of toast clamped in his mouth. I just laughed.

After he returned home the boy rambled on and on about a talent show that the school was planning. I listened to him with little attention. His chatterbox abilities were certainly from both of his parents who could talk for hours without missing a beat.

"Mom." He said suddenly. I turned around to see those big brown eyes of his locked on me. I gasped softly as I swore that, for just a moment, I saw his father sitting in his place. [S/N] smiled that little crooked smile, and there was no denying that he was his father's child. And without him I don't know what I'd do.

"Yeah." I muttered softly as I shook my head. "I want to sign up for the talent show. I want to play his guitar just like he did." I smiled sadly at him. He had taught himself to play in memory of his father. It melted my heart at how much he loved that old guitar. "Of course. Just be careful with it." I said. [S/N] nodded as he ran up upstairs to practice.

I smiled sadly as I glanced at the picture of my husband and the father of my child. "Oh Valt. I wish you were still here. I wish you could meet your son." I said as the memories flooded my head.

21-year-old Valt and I had just got back from our honeymoon when the band was told that we had a performance. Of course we were all excited about that. We talked and laughed as the Beigoma Academy Band headed for New York City. The night was absolutely perfect. Rantaro killed on the drums, Wakiya rocked the keyboard as Valt and Shu played guitar. I stood up front as I sang with everything I had.

Everything was right and then...it wasn't. Guns shot rang out and the night erupted in  chaos. We were all hit by the random shooter. I was struck in the arm along with Rantaro. Shu and Wakiya took a bullet to the leg, but Valt got the worst of it. He was hit in the chest when he dove in front of me. He tried to protect me.

The shooter was later apprehended by police, but by then it was too late. Valt was gone. I found out that I was pregnant with Valt's baby two weeks later. A baby that would never know their father.

"Momma?" A voice broke my thoughts. I looked up to see [S/N] sitting on the couch beside me. "Yeah baby." I said softly as I wiped away tears. The boy pouted slightly before smiling. "Why didn't the skeleton go to the dance?" He said. I smiled weakly at him. "Why?" I said. "Because he had no body to go with!" He cheered before giggling.

I laughed softly at the craziness of my son. "Goofball." I said as I ruffled his hair. [S/N] grinned brightly as he bounced up. "I know. Love ya Mama. Good night." He said before heading to bed. 'That boy is everything to me.' I thought as I followed him to tuck him in.

I froze at the door when I heard him praying. "Lord help me and Momma make it through, and tell Daddy we'll be ok. I..we miss you, Dad." He said. I smiled sadly at that line. That's something else he got from me, the grief of missing the man who helped give him life.
