Time stopped existing.
How could it have existed in a place like this.
Cold.
Dark.
Empty, except for the distant sound of water dripping somewhere and the occasional sound of shifting as the four of you tried not to lose circulation to any of your limbs.
It was difficult to make out your surroundings, You seemed like you were underground somewhere just because of how completely and utterly dark it was, light not coming from anywhere- just pitch blackness overtaking the room, so much so that you could only see the outlines of your coworkers, enough to be able to tell it was them, and that you were all alone.
The ground was cement, the cool temperature actually feeling nice against your thighs through your slacks. The air in the room felt thick, like it had been inhaled by other people before you.
Then again, it probably had been.
JJ had woken up a few hours ago. Or maybe it had been longer? There was no way to know, the moments seemed to move slowly one second and quickly the next- hardly linear in the way you were used to time behaving.
None of you said much, other than the occasional out loud reassurance that the team would find you- well, the other four members of your team, since half of you were already here.
You wondered what the other agents had thought when they were here- if they thought maybe they'd be rescued too.
They didn't know what you knew now- what they did to the agents they held.
How they tortured them.
It was hard not to feel the panic setting in. Yes, Hotch and the others had a lead. Yes, you knew if any team would be able to find you, it was the BAU. Yes, you had their profile.
But you had no idea how their endgame was going to look.
They had already strayed from their pattern. Four agents being abducted at the same time? That was new. Although you didn't know for sure there weren't other people here, you were pretty sure you four were the only people here- well, the only live people here.
It had also been longer than an hour.
They weren't idiots, they were keeping you all alive for a reason. If they wanted you dead, you would be.
You saw the gears turning in Spencer's head. You could make out the vague shapes of his face, since he was right next to you. He looked just as panicked as you did, but he was still deep in thought. You were sure he was laying out all his options in his head right now.
You focused on what was around you- it didn't help that it was dark but pouting about that wouldn't help you right now. You just had to make it work.
You closed your eyes. Focusing on the things you felt around you first- you wiggled your hands a little bit, inhaling sharply as you jerked a little too hard and felt the sharp material slice open the skin on the back of your wrist.
"What was that?" Spencer asked suddenly, in reaction to your change in breathing.
"Nothing" you let out a defeated chuckle, embarrassed a little that he was so concerned about you when you really had just done something stupid. "On an unrelated note, I don't recommend you try to move your hands, I'm pretty sure we are bound with razor wire." You tried to lighten the mood a little.
