It was hard to tell what happened next.
You heard yelling reverberating through the room, sound waves pouring unforgivingly into the room from under the door. Things were rocking back and forth as the room seemed to be vibrating from all the screaming. The red lights above you seemed to be pulsing but that was probably just because your head was killing you- you could swear it's like they had a heart beat.
Come to think of it, your whole body was killing you.
It took you an embarrassingly long time to realize he was still rocking you both back and forth, the repetitive motion working to soothe you both.
You were still laying with your head on Spencer's lap, but he had shifted to allow more of your body rest on his. He had taken his blood covered shirt and spread it out over your body.
You wondered why briefly before you felt him reach up to your face, stroking your cheek until you opened your eyes after softly calling your name. When your gaze met his again, he gave you a sympathetic gaze before letting his hands drift up to settle around your ears, keeping them bent for a moment to allow you to hear what he said next before he created a barrier between your ears and the rest of the world.
"It's okay, we're getting out now. You can go back to sleep, you're safe." You knew what he meant and you could hear and comprehend what he was saying just fine, but it was hard to believe what you were hearing. He saw the confusion in your eyes and his left hand away from your ear to gently run through your hair a few times before bringing it to your face and running his pointer finger over your nose a few times.
"Close your eyes, sweet girl" It was comforting to hear him speak with such relief in his voice, but still making such an effort to let you hear the care in his voice. You obeyed, despite wanting to look around and see what the commotion was about. You frankly didn't have the energy to stay awake anymore.
You felt your body sink further into his lap as tension you weren't even aware of melted out of your shoulders. You brought an arm up from around your waist, where they were both resting in an attempt to comfort your abused body. You wordlessly snaked it around Spencer's torso in an effort to pull him closer to you and to give you a little more confidence with keeping your eyes closed.
You felt him jump a little when you first touched him, he hadn't been anticipating that you'd want to touch him- he was afraid you would jump when he first woke you up- but you were too out of it to notice. All the drugs had worn off, but so had the adrenaline, which had left you feeling so much pain that the only escape you had was sleep. You stopped your hand in it's tracks after he jumped, opting to retract it, so as to not make him uncomfortable, but stopped after you felt him relax and lean into your touch.
You stayed there, holding each other as the chaos seemed to get further and further away from you too- or at least, it seemed like that to you. Spencer could still hear it, which is why he let his thumbs graze over your cheeks a few times before gently closing his hands over your ears so all you could hear was muffled sounds that felt like they were a lifetime away and indistinguishable over the sound of your own heartbeat.
He continued to run his fingernails through the parts of your scalp he could reach without moving his palms. You did the same with your hand on his back, rubbing along the sides of his spine on his bare back. Occasionally you felt his abdomen clench as all his muscles responded to the occasional flashes of pain that would run through him every so often.
