Pairing: Akamatsu/Iruma

"N- no! No way," Miu says. "Please! Just one song?" I plead, "What about the song Sayaka Maizono released last year? I could accompany you on the piano!"

She looks at me. "But I'm not a good singer!" she says. "Don't worry," I say, "I'm the only one here, and I'll think your singing is beautiful no matter what!" I smile at her, and she smiles back. "Fine," she says. I smile wider, "I'll go find the lyrics! You know the tune, right?"

"Yeah," she says. I find a copy of the sheet music in my pile of music sheets. "Here it is!" I say. I set it on the piano stand and beckon Miu over. "Stand behind me so you can see the lyrics," I say.

I can't see her expression, but I point to the part of the music where the lyrics start. "There, see. Start singing on the eighth note," I say. "Okay," I hear from behind me. I start playing the song, slowly and carefully. Then I hear Miu's voice from behind me.

My beloved,
I hold you close,
I watch as your cold expression grows into a beautiful smile,
Your cheeks flushed with red,
You're as pretty as a rose,

I almost gasp at how beautiful her voice sounds. I smile and keep playing the keys.

Welcome to my heart,
The key belongs only to you,
You thought that you could never love,
But it simply wasn't true,

Because no one has loved me as dear as you,
No one has held me as near as you,
When you comfort me through the bad times,
I know that I will be alright,

So hold me tight and keep me safe,
And I'll keep you safe in turn,
I know I'm not the fighting type,
But your love is what I'll earn,

I keep playing, my fingers skimming across the keys as Miu sings. Her voice floats through the air, almost as smooth as velvet. I remember what it was like when Sayaka Maizono sang this. Everyone was in tears.

I'll soothe your wounds,
I'll help you rise,
Because your love,
Is worth the fight,

I sometimes wonder why you love me,
But then you hold me tight,
You whisper sweet nothings into my ear,
You say I'll be just fine,

So I'll love you forever,
And after as well,
I promise you this,
Like I did when we heard our wedding bells.

I end off the song with the last four notes, slowing my hands to a halt. I turn around with tears in my eyes. "Miu, you did amazing," I say, embracing her and running my fingers through her hair. "Thank you," she says, choked up with tears as well.

"Why don't I make us something to eat?" she says. "No," I reply softly, "You've done enough for me. I'll make us something to eat. You go sit down." As I walk to the kitchen, I think of how lucky I am to have such a beautiful and kind girlfriend. I smile to myself, feeling the weight of the small box in my pocket. Maybe one day, she'll be my wife.
