Three weeks had gone by and Laura had been busy spending most of her time in the library working on essays, assignments and whatnot. It was a Saturday morning and Laura was in the Slytherin common room, reading a book she hadn't been able to read since she hadn't been able to get to reading it the past weeks with the amount of work to be done. She had just turned to a new chapter when she felt someone sit beside her. Laura did not have to look up to know who was the person. "Laura!" Regulus said in a very excited tone, she looked up at him after placing a bookmark on the page she was at and then shutting the book. If it was something that could make Regulus Black sound so happy and excited then that was something worth giving full attention. His eyes sparkled with excitement as he showed her some green and silver pieces of clothing, it was only after a few seconds that Laura recognised that they weren't just any piece of clothing they were Slytherin Quidditch robes. Her eyes widened and a very happy and genuine smile flashed across her face as she asked excitedly said "You got in?" Regulus responded with twice the excitement "I got in!". "Reg that's just so great" she was very happy for her friend, she knew he had been working very hard for this. "I can't believe I'm the Slytherin seeker." Regulus whispered "I can," Laura said smiling at him. "I knew you'd get in" she stated proudly Regulus smiled at her as he relaxed against the couch "Oh what would I have done'th without you, darling Laura," he said dramatically in a cheeky tone. The resemblance between the two brothers was now crystal clear. Laura just looked at him tilting her head slightly before saying "Die?" and they both burst out laughingSince then Regulus had been working very hard and a lot with his new team, they had, had two practice sessions already over the weekends. It was Monday morning and Laura had potions with the Gryffindors, what a great start to a new week. She was having her breakfast alone, in silence as Regulus had to talk with his Quidditch team about scheduling the practice sessions. He had asked Laura to not wait for him, so she did not. As soon as she was done with her breakfast Laura walked to her class, as usual, most of the Gryffindors were late thus delaying the start of the day's lesson. Once they finally showed up Slughorn cleared his throat "For the next project you will have to work in pairs, oh and yes I will be assigning your partners" he finished with a smile and he was returned with groans. 'And I thought this day couldn't get any worse' Laura thought annoyed, Severus Snape who was sitting next to her that day apparently, as he couldn't find any other empty seats, he cleared his throat almost like in agreement as if he had just heard what she had said. However, Laura tried not to think of it too much as Slughorn had started to read out the names that are to be paired together. From the corner of her eyes, Laura could see Snape's eyes flickering every so often in the direction of a redhead Gryffindor, 'What's her name again?' she thought. "Lily Evans," Severus said in a clear whisper loud enough for her to hear. As she looked shocked at the pale boy's direction, Laura was sure at this point that he was reading her mind. She raised an eyebrow trying to study his face but Snape was looking anywhere but in her direction avoiding her sharp gaze. However, she shook the feeling off and continued listening to Slughorn and he finally called her name "Ms Lestrange and Ms McKinnon" he said and Laura looked over to the side of the classroom where the Gryffindor students were seated as she was quite sure that there were no McKinnons in Slytherin, but the thing was Laura didn't know who exactly was this 'Ms Mckinnon'. Snape on the other hand was now taking his book and putting it in his bag before walking away to sit with a Gryffindor boy who he was assigned with.
And soon after, a girl with her tie loosened and some unbuttoned buttons on the top of her shirt strutted across the room and sat beside Laura. The girl had a sickly sweet smile fixated on her face as she took her hand out and batted her curly eyelashes before introducing herself "Hello, I'm Marlene Mckinnon." Laura simply nodded leaving her hand hanging in the air "Lestrange, Laura Lestrange" she said curtly. The girl bit her lip and withdrew her hand now pretending to curl a strand of her blond hair.
"Can we brew Amortenia" the girl suggested out of the blue, Laura wasn't expecting her partner to make any suggestions But oh well she did, however, her suggestion wasn't very helpful so "No" said Laura shortly. "But why?" Mckinnon objected pouting, Laura sighed and faced her partner "Because it's very common and a lot of people are going to brew it and we had to brew it in our fifth year anyway." she said in a calm tone. Yet again Marlene said "But it's very easy and don't you think it will come in handy?" she winked and her eyes flickered in a particular direction. Laura followed her gaze and spotted a particular Gryffindor and though this boy had his back facing in their direction Laura recognised him with ease, it was Sirius Black. "How about Veritaserum?" Laura suggested returning her gaze to her partner's direction who rolled her eyes and crossed her arms saying "Ugh truth serum boring". The bell signalling the end of the class rang and Laura said "So Veritaserum it is" as she grabbed her things and walked out of the classroom.
