Chapter 16

Laura was feeling much better by dinner, she sat down across Regulus who smiled at her weakly he was still in his quidditch robes which seemed muddy and wet. "Slow down there Reg," she said looking at Regulus who was eating like he hadn't eaten in days, he slowed down his pace a little and then with as much dignity as he could muster with his mouth filled with peas said ''m 'orry got ve'y 'ungry af'er p-" Laura cut him off and nodded saying "After practice, yeah I got it." He went back to his dinner but in a much civilised manner now, Laura helped herself too with some mashed potatoes and sprouts. After a few minutes, Regulus fake coughed and said "Stalker nine o'clock" Laura looked at him puzzled before looking over the right side of the table. "Not my nine o'clock, you're nine o'clock," Regulus said hastily as Laura groaned softly looking at her right she got a glimpse of Barty hurriedly looking down at his plate,  pretending to eat. "That's not a stalker Reg," Laura explained "So you know him?" he asked curiously looking at her and smiling slightly, he had never really heard Laura talk about boys. Laura rolled her eyes at his sudden curiosity "Yes, his name's Bartemius Crouch he was talking to me earlier in Herbology." she said "Ooh and what else did Bartemius Crouch say?" he asked pressing on  "Well he was sweet, was rambling a little and he also mentioned very importantly that he is not a stalker" Laura said chuckling softly. "His father's pretty big deal at the ministry, he's head of the department of magical law enforcement," Regulus said looking over at Barty with narrowed eyes "Oh," Laura said chewing on a piece of chicken. Regulus rolled his eyes handing her a tissue, she raised her eyebrows he pointed at her chin "O-oh" Laura said wiping her chin. "You eat like the Vikings," he remarked laughing "No, you do" pointing a fork at him "Sure," he said smirking, "Said the girl who tried to stab me with a fork." 

Sirius was in his dorm room trying to finish a potions report for Slughorn, he had decided to skip dinner, he didn't really feel like eating. James and Peter were at dinner, they didn't really want to go without him but he insisted and Remus said he'd get something to eat later as he had his prefect rounds later anyway. He too was currently doing his homework, Sirius had apologized to him for yelling at him in the Great Hall, and Remus had said that it was okay that he understood and felt really sorry for what Sirius was going through. Sirius felt really bad for yelling at Laura too, she really didn't deserve it, he felt the very need to just pull himself together. 

Time Skip To Winter Break

Laura hopped off after Regulus from the Hogwarts Express at the nine at the three-quarters platform, Regulus shoved his hands in his coat pockets "It's bloody cold in London, isn't it?" he said looking at her "Aye it is" she said rubbing her hands together. "You better write to me," Laura said looking at Regulus as they started walking away from the train "Believe me, I will," Regulus responded smiling sadly. "Everyday" Laura said "Every day," Regulus repeated nodding as he looked down sadly, Laura pulled him into a hug "You'll be alright," she said kissing his cheek as they pulled away. She knew how it was for Regulus, of course her parents weren't any better but at least she had Rabastan. And The Blacks expected a lot of from Regulus since Sirius was in Gryffindor and was considered to be a blood traitor, and more the expectation more the pressure. "Don't let them get to you okay, now come one Reg smile a little," she said looking at him kindly Regulus nodded again smiling faintly as he started pushing his trolley.

"Pads, Pads are you listening?" James asked looking at his friend "Yeah-yeah" Sirius said now turning his gaze to his mate, he had been staring at all the happy faces of all the students and their families. "I said don't get yourself killed and write to us, just write to me if you need anything," James said in a tone of real concern in his voice. "Yes I will," Sirius said "And read that book I gave you if you feel bored," Remus suggested in an attempt to help "You know I won't Moony," Sirius said honestly with a chuckle  Remus rolled his eyes but couldn't help but laugh nevertheless as he said, "I know."  Mr and Mrs Lupin were smiling and waving at them, "There you go, then" James said looking at Remus he turned to look at them and said, "Yeah, well happy holidays you two." before walking away. Peter had left too with his mum, and James kept telling his parents 'Five more minutes' he tried to keep Sirius company for as long as he could. "Prongs, mate you've got to go, you can't stay here forever, and I promise I'll write to you," Sirius assured his friend. "Well alright," James said looking at him and patting Sirius arm before turning away and walking towards his parents.
