Sirius stood in a corner with a half-empty cup of firewhiskey in his hand, a thing he never did, usually Sirius Black was the life of parties, but today he just couldn't take his eye off the girl dancing with his brother, he saw how she had bravely gulped down two large cups of hard liquor. Remus and Peter had already gone back to their dorms and James was with Lily somewhere, but he wasn't quite sure where. After about another half an hour, he decided to get out for a while, but he didn't feel like going back to his dorm just yet.
Laura was slightly tipsy and somehow had lost Regulus in the crowd, she honestly couldn't dance anymore. As she started walking out her legs seemed to know where they were headed, Laura couldn't think straight at this point. After a few minutes of walking through the many passages and corridors of the castle, she found herself in the astronomy tower. It was almost midnight, the chilly breeze tickled her face and swished through her hair. Laura saw a figure sitting and she instantly sat down beside the figure swinging an arm around their shoulder, "I knew you would be here, Reggie" she said softly leaning her head on the shoulder. Well, Laura sure drunk enough to be oblivious to the fact, that the person she was now cuddled up against had broader shoulders than her fourteen-year-old friend and his hair was slightly longer than her own. "Ye-yeah," Sirius said he could smell a strong stench of firewhiskey off her breath, to be honest, Sirius was a bit startled by her sudden appearance but what shocked him, even more, was the fact that she had mistaken him for his brother. No one that knew the Black brother knew that both the brother had nothing in common, Laura tightened her grip on 'Regulus' but Sirius didn't mind, it wasn't hurting. "Tonight was nice wasn't it?" she asked and once again Sirius played along, he knew what he was doing was not right but his insides had started to warm up and there were as if butterflies in his stomach. "Yes it was," he said which wasn't a lie, Laura chuckled slightly "Also," she said with a pause "I didn't know you can dance so well." Sirius couldn't help but laugh too, Laura sure was funny when she was buzzed. "And I didn't know you could dance at all" he responded which made her laugh, Sirius had never seen Laura laugh before.
They stayed in silence for a while and then Laura spoke up again "Reggie?" she asked and Sirius hummed in response as he was looking at the sky, "Do you miss your brother?" she asked, if she were sober she would've never asked anything like that to Regulus. Laura knew it was something he wasn't comfortable talking about, Sirius didn't know what to say to this, he, of course, missed his brother, he missed Regulus a lot, but he wasn't sure whether his brother missed him at all. "I don't know Laura," Sirius said. He figured if Laura was drunk enough to have mistaken him for his brother, so she sure wouldn't be too suspicious no matter what he said, he was right, Laura didn't say anything.
It was past midnight now, "Okay, now let's get you to bed," Sirius said gently helping her up, it was getting very chilly out there they would catch a cold if they stayed any longer. Laura didn't object to this, so he helped her all the way to the dungeons but he couldn't get into the Slytherin common room. Of course, he didn't know the password, he hoped Laura still remembered it so he asked her "What's the password, doll?", she was very sleepy but answered softly "Uh, sly serpent." and the door opened. Luckily there was no one in there, yet the fire was crackling away in the fireplace, everyone was in their dorms or at the party, so Sirius slowly walked towards the girl's dormitories and carefully opened the door which said 'Sixth years' on a silver label. All the beds were empty as he looked around trying to figure out which one was Laura's bed, he noticed the book that she was reading in the library the other day. He put the book on the bedside table then gently laid her down, she was already asleep Sirius smiled and watched her sleep for a while before removing her shoes and carefully putting a blanket on her. Then he slowly walked back to the door and with the last look, he closed it as soundlessly as possible, just as he was walking out the Slytherin common room he was face to face with a very worried looking Regulus. As he saw Sirius, he tried to look normal, that's when it hit Sirius his brother was probably looking for Laura, so he said "I put her to bed, she was a bit tipsy and has mistaken me for you." Regulus raised an eyebrow but nodded and started walking towards the door but then he stopped and without looking back he said "Thank you," Sirius nodded pressing a smile as he too started to walk away.
