"Ace Degenerate"

Y/N POV

Miguel and I moved to Reseda California this week. New school, new town, new friends. Well, hopefully new friends.  Miguel and I were outside our apartment that morning when we saw our neighbor taking out the trash. He led me over to introduce ourselves even though the guy looked like he was having a rough morning. Miguel spoke first, "Hey, I'm Miguel and this is my twin sister y/n. Our family and us just moved into 109." The guy monotonously replies, "Great. More immigrants." I scoff and say, "Actually, we're from Riverside."  Miguel still trying to be nice says, "But anyways, we were just wondering if you were having trouble with your water pressure, 'cause I know our sink's being weird right now and...Oh, bottles go in the blue bins." The guy continues to throw his bottles in the garbage and cuts Miguel off, "Listen Menudo, I've lived in this shithole for over 10 years. The pipes don't work. The fountain's full of piss. The only good thing about being here is that I don't have to talk to anybody. So, nice knowing ya." Miguel confused as ever says, "Okay,well...have a nice day...I guess." The guy drives out of the parking lot as we stand there. "Wow, nice neighbors." I say sarcastically. Miguel doesn't say anything and walks back towards our apartment. 

I continued unpacking my boxes all day and arranging my room how I wanted it. Later that night Miguel and I stopped at the store to grab some Pepto for our grandma. Where we ran into our neighbor from this morning. "Our grandma's not feeling well," Miguel tells him. He rudely replies, "Didn't ask. C'mon, what's Spanish for "Just give me my damn slice"?" The man behind the counter comes up and says in Spanish, "F*cking idiot. He probably has a little d*ck." He laughs and Miguel and I snicker and try to hide our smiles. "What did you just say?" The guy asks. He turns to Miguel and I, "What did he just say." Miguel answers, "You don't wanna know." He continues, "I know it's something bad. Just tell me." I tell him, "Uh, he said you have a tiny..." The guy looks offended and turns back to the man behind the counter, "He said I have a tiny wang? Tell him he has a tiny wang." The man behind the counter replies, "I speak English, asshole." "Oh, really?" Our neighbor replies before walking out. 

Miguel pays for the Pepto as a group of kids about our age walk in. Miguel accidentally gave it away that they were underage when they were trying to buy beer. They push him out of the store and one says, "What the hell are you doing? Why you gotta blow up my spot?" Miguel hurriedly tries to explain that he was sorry and that he didn't know they were trying to buy beer. They push him on the ground and I step in front of them and say, "Hey, leave him alone man." They walk around me as I help Miguel up and they pick up our bag and look inside. "Oooh what do we got here Pepto," one says. Another one speaks up and says, "Oh shit. Someone has frickin' diarrhea!" "We should call him rhea," another one adds. Miguel walks up to him and says, "Give it back dude. It's for our grandma!" He sarcastically says, "Oh, it's for your grandma? Shit, I'm sorry, man. Hey, you want it? Hey, you can take all that shit," while pouring it on our heads. "Bitch," he says while throwing the bottle. "Asshole," Miguel says. "Total asshole," I agree. The guy spins around and says, "What'd you two say?" We quickly straighten up and Miguel says, "We didn't say anything." They proceed to punch him in the stomach. I help him to his feet and we start to run when they trip us and we fall on a car. 

Our neighbor who was sitting on the curb stands and says, "Hey! Watch the car man." The guy who punched Miguel asks, "Who's this dude?" Our says, "Just leave the dorks alone." One of the others speaks up, "You see this guy? Eating his dinner at the mini-mart like a bum." The guy who punched Miguel speaks up, "Wait I think I know this guy. He's the jerk-off that cleaned my dads septic tank." The boy with curly hair says, "Oooooh. That explains why he smells like shit." Our neighbor replies, "Trust me, you are pissing off the wrong guy on the wrong day, all right?" "Oh, really?" "Yeah really." The guy pushes our neighbor and says, "Get the hell out of here loser." Our neighbor kicks the guy in the face and the other guys try to beat him up, but he does a bunch of cool fighting moves as me and Miguel watch. The police show up at the wrong time and pepper spray our neighbor. "Hey! It's not his fault!" Miguel says. "Seriously, it wasn't his fault," I chime in. They end up taking him to jail anyways though. 

Miguel and I go home and clean up and go to sleep. The next morning we wait outside for our neighbor to get back so we can talk to him. His car pulls into the lot and we run up to him. Miguel speaks first, "Hey, we just wanted to say thank you." Then he rudely replies, "All right, well, you said it, and walks away." We follow him and I ask, "So, last night was that, like, Tae Kwon Do or Jujitsu or MMA or something?" He anaswers, "It's karate. Old-school karate." Miguel and I glance at each other before he asks, "Do you think you could teach us?" He replies quickly, "What? No." I try to convince him, "Come on. When school starts, those guys will make our lives miserable." "It's not my problem," he answers. Miguel continues, "Look, if we just knew a little bit of what you knew, then we would be-" "Forget it. I don't do karate anymore, all right? Besides, I need to find a job," he cuts Miguel off. I continue our argument, "Well, you could open your own karate school." "It's called a dojo." "You could open your own dojo." "Look, I'm not getting into this with you two. I'm not even sure I'm allowed to be around kids right now. All right, you want my advice? Stop being so annoying. Maybe you'll stoop getting your ass kicked." "Ok," Miguel says defeated.
