Y/N POV

We were stretching at the dojo when Sensei walked in. Miguel and I jog over to him and I tell him solemnly, "Hey, Sensei, I'm sorry about your loss." He replies with a, "Thanks." I nod and Miguel asks, "So, how was the funeral?" He sighs and answers, "As good as any funeral can be. So, how'd it go around here while I was gone?" I answer with a simple, "Great." Miguel elaborates for me saying, "I mean, Sensei Kreese is tough, but he knows what it takes to win." He nods at us and goes into his office. We go back over to stretching for a few more minutes before we all dive into conversations. Our talking comes to an abrupt halt when Sensei comes out of his office and announces, "Everybody, get you gis on. Training starts in fiver minutes." We all look at each other in confusion and I ask Hawk and Miguel quietly, "I thought we weren't wearing our gis today?" They just shrug in confusion and we walk up to Sensei who asks, "Yeah, what's wrong?" Miguel stutters out, "N-n-nothing's wrong. We just thought we were going to the woods for a special training today. Sensei Lawrence turns to Sensei Kreese and asks, "Why? What's happening in the woods?" Sensei Kreese replies, "Well, I thought it was a good time to separate the men from the boys. And the girls, too, I suppose." Sensei turns to him and simply asks, "How?" Sensei Kreese leans forward and says bluntly, "Coyote Creek." Sensei Lawrence sighs and glances at us before telling him, "I'm not sure they're ready for that." Sensei Kreese tells him, "There's only one way to find out." He still seems hesitant, so Hawk tells him, "We're ready, Sensei." I chime in and add, "Yeah, we want to prove ourselves." Behind me I hear some whispers of agreement and Sensei Kreese tells us, "It's up to Sensei Lawrence. If he says it's ok, then, and only then, is it ok." Everyone's eyes are on him, waiting for an answer. He sighs and tells us, "All right, what are you waiting for? Let's go." Everyone starts talking excitedly about what's going to happen at Coyote Creek. I just hope I get to kick some ass.

We made our up to Coyote Creek where we were divided into teams. There was Sensei Lawrence's team, who were the black team. And there was Sensei Kreese's team, who were the red team. I was on the red team with Hawk, Aisha, and several other people. We all got headbands with our teams color on them and we tied them around our heads. We were lines up, opposite the other team as Sensei Kreese explained what we were doing. "Gentlemen, ladies. Welcome to Coyote Creek. You've been split into two teams. Red and black. The goal is to capture as many headbands as possible from the other side. Today, the people across from you are not your friends. They're not your brothers," He tells us. Miguel and I make eye contact, I smirk at him and he narrows his eyes back. Sensei Kreese continues his explanation, "They are the enemy. The last team standing...wins." Miguel asks a question that I was wondering myself, "How do we get the headbands?" Sensei Kreese doesn't even blink when he says, "By any means possible. No rules." I glance around at the other team. I think we got this in the bag. Sensei Lawrence tells us, "Use your judgment. This is just a training exercise." Sensei Kreese agrees saying, "Correct, but remember, this is your life. You lose it...you die." All the sudden we here someone say, "Hey guys! Sorry I'm late. Traffic on the 118 was a real bitch. Put Coyote Creek into the nav. Nothing came up." It was the guy that was coming to classes, except he looked like he was trying to be like Hawk. He was now wearing a sleeveless jean jacket with some sunglasses and the end of his bead was twisted into a small tail. I look at him weirdly as Sensei asks, "What have you done to yourself?" He gestures to himself and says, "Oh, the...Yeah, you know what, I just decided to flip the script, Hawk-style. Respect." He gestures to Hawk and at this point I'm struggling to contain my laughter. He takes his sunglasses off and tucks them into his shirt before continuing, "Heretofore, you can refer to me...as Stingray." Sensei just continues saying, "Yeah, all right, Chubs. He's on your team." Sensei Kreese sighs and says sarcastically, "Terrific." I snicker quietly before leaning over and whispering to Hawk, "What do you say I flip the script...Haw-style." He turns his head to me and says, "Please, don't." I laugh and stand on the tips of my  toes and kiss his cheek. Before looking at the black team. Get ready to get your asses kicked.

We all started to spread out through the woods. Hawk insisted that I stay by his side and that he had a plan. We were climbing up a tree and once we got to the top I asked him, "Why am I staying with you again?" He looks down in all seriousness at me and says, "So that I can protect you." I scoff and laugh quietly he looks down at me again and asks, "What?" I reach the branch that he's standing on and he reaches down and pulls me up. "This is a training exercise," I tell him. He rolls his eyes and says, "Yeah, but it's still my job to protect you isn't it?" I chuckle and answer, "I suppose." Suddenly my foot slips and I stumble slightly, but Hawk grabs me and holds me against him. Our faces are so close that we're practically sharing our breath. "See, like that," he says quietly. I respond by placing a loving kiss on his lips which he returns. All the sudden we hear the crunching of leaves underneath us and we break the kiss. He looks at me and mouths "stay here" before preparing to jump from the tree. He jumps and gives a yell as he lands on the person. I jump down afterwards and take the headband off his head. I loop it through my belt loop as he gets up and asks, "What the hell man?" I reply, "Sorry, ass-face. Today, you're the enemy." Hawk glances down at my belt loop and then his pocket saying, "That make five kills." I chuckle and kiss his cheek before jogging off into the woods. I glance back to see Hawk following close behind.

After we move to a new spot I tell him that he should climb the tree and I'll wait at the bottom as bait. He was hesitant about it at first, but I finally convinced him to go with it. I sat at the bottom of the tree waiting, when all the sudden I got grabbed from behind. I drove my elbow back into their side and flipped them over my shoulder, but when I reached down to pull his headband off he grabbed hold of my wrist and reached up and pulled my headband off. Suddenly Hawk jumps down from the tree and takes the kids headband off. "Damn it," I say. Hawk throws an arm over my shoulders and says, "Sorry Princess, I thought you had him." I sigh and say, "Me too." I start to walk away, but I turn around and jog back over to him and pecking his lips before saying, "Kick their asses for me, ok?" He chuckles and nods and with that I run off to join the other kids.

I get back to the group to see that almost everyone is there. I walk over to Tory and Aisha as Tory asks, "They got you out too?" I sigh and nod, feeling a bit disappointed. Aisha continues saying, "I guess it's just Hawk and Miguel left." I take a seat and look anxiously into the woods and waiting for either Hawk or Miguel to walk back. A few minutes goes by before we hear what sounds like fighting. We all jump to our feet and run towards it and watch Miguel and Hawk fight. I was the first there and I saw Hawk kick a tree where Miguel just was, but Miguel moves out of the way and kicks Hawk in the stomach. They throw punches at each other, but they are both blocking until Miguel has Hawk in a tough position and flips him over onto his back and ripping the headband off. He then reaches down and takes a chain from around Hawk's neck. I look closely at it and see that it's the medal of honor. He didn't tell me that he took that. When everyone else arrives, Miguel holds up the headband and Sensei Kreese tells him, "Finish him." With no hesitation, Miguel kicks Hawk in the face and he falls backwards onto the ground. I run over to him and drop down next to him. I grab is face gently and examine him to see how bad it is. He just smirks at me and I ask, "What are you smirking about? You just got kicked in the face." He doesn't reply, but puts a hand on the back of mt neck and pulls me in for a hard kiss. I gasp and he takes the opportunity to slip his tongue into my mouth. I kiss him back, but then pull away when the need for air becomes to strong. I give a breathy laugh and pull him onto his feet as the black team surrounds him and pats him on the back. Hawk and I walk over with our team and wait for them to be done celebrating. All the sudden a pile of leaves move and Stingray jumps out of it and puts Miguel into a head lock. He starts telling him, "You know the thing about stingrays is, they lie and wait for the perfect opportunity...to strike!" He then pulls the headband off of Miguel's head and yells, "The red team just won!" The red team starts cheering and patting him on the back. "Nice job man," I tell him before walking back over to Hawk. He slings an arm over my shoulders and pulls me close to him and resting his face in the crook of my neck. I lean my head on top of his and let out a content sigh. This feeling is more than a crush.
