asher's pov:

i made my way down to the great hall thinking about annie. the way her eyes lighten up when she smiles, the way she pouts when she's sad or confused, the way her cheeks blush when i compliment her.

not noticing where i was going, i bumped into lauren. we both fell and a girl went by her side to help her. i waited till my slight headache left and realized that the girl was annie.

"anns why are you helping her?' i glared at the girl.

she glared right back.

"asher. lauren and i made up. whatever happened is behind us now. lauren, asher is also one of my best friends, so please don't get into fights with him." annie pleaded.

lauren and i mumbled 'okay's and watched as annie happily skipped towards the great hall. once she was gone i got up from the cold marble floor, dusted my robes, gave lauren a dirty look and marched off.

all throughout breakfast i tried to ignore how much it hurt when annie introduced me as her best friend. why can i not be something more to her? why does she have to become hellen keller when i flirt with her?

it didn't make any sense. so, without thinking, i marched down to the grounds. i made my way to the gamekeeper's hut. i raised my hand to knock on the door.

the door opened and a tall man with bright green eyes and flaming red hair that was tied into a bun peeked out.

"hey charlie. got a moment?" i smiled.

charlie smiled back. "sure angel. what's wrong? don't you have class in a few minutes?"

i entered his hut and sat beside his dog, fang.

stroking his ears, i let out everything. every emotion of pain, guilt, anger, disappointment, everything to him. he listened carefully. once i was finished, he sighed.

"listen angel. from what i can tell, you really like this girl. she seems to captivate you a lot."

i nodded. "she does."

"i know you think it's never gonna happen, but that's exactly what my brother bill thought. his wife's a veela, and he was in love. he thought it was out of the question to even talk to her, but slowly, he managed to grow some damn balls and hit her up." charlie said. i chuckled at his story.

"from what you've told me, annie doesn't seem to think of you as more than a friend. so the only solution to that, is to make her see you as more than a friend." charlie explained.

"how do i do that?" i questioned.

charlie smirked.
