there's mom waking me up for breakfast.
tap tap tap
"go away." i groaned.
tap tap tippity tappity tap
"fine i'm getting up." i said. i opened my door, but mom wasn't outside. i checked my alarm clock and saw it was only five thirty in the morning.

the sound was more vigorous this time. i looked out my window and noticed a great eagle owl tapping its beak on my window. curious as to who the hell would be sending me a letter at this time. my heart leaped at the thought of it being annie, but then i realized that her owl is black, hence the name pepper.
i quickly closed my door and ran over to my window. i unlocked it and the owl flew over to my dresser, and obediently stuck its leg out so that i could untie the letter.
it read:
heyyy ashwipe!
so, i couldn't understand that greasy haired git's homework at all, soo you're going to have to do it for me on the train tomorrow buddy!
and before you make the suggestion, i already asked jace, but he already sent my owl back with a big fat no, and i doubt morgan will have done the homework either, so that leaves you pall!
now hurry up and give me back my owl, i need it for school tomorrow you git.
haha just kidding, love you!

classic sean. forgetting to do his homework two days before it's due.
i don't blame him though, snape's essay was really hard. mom had to help me through most of it, and then she and dad got into a big fight because of it, increasing my hate for snape like ten percent.
i really didn't want to spend the whole ride to hogwarts doing sean's homework, so i decided to let him see my essay instead. i wouldn't let him copy it word for word though. snape's already onto us. probably because we always sit in the back of his class, whispering insults about him not-so-quietly and then laughing like crazy afterwards.
i flipped over sean's paper, quickly cribbled a
╭∩╮(ಠ_ಠ)╭∩╮, and attached it to his owl's leg. it flew away immediately. i watched it disappear into the dimly lit sky. then i closed my window and lay down on my bed again.
sean is one of my best friends at hogwarts. he's kind of crazy but, then again, aren't we all? he's really fun to be around, and i've known him since i was eight. he's a pure-blood, so my dad approves. thank goodness, or he'd never let him stay over the summer.
my other best friend is jace walker. he's really sweet and protective. i think it's because a lot of girls like me and sean, and he just wants to make sure we don't get hurt. then again, jace is super protective of everyone he loves. he's a half-blood, so dad let him stay this past summer too, but he was a little skeptical about him first, which infuriated me.
then there's morgan jade walters. morgan is a slytherin, and very energetic. she's literally a ball of adrenaline. on skates. she's always up for a challenge, even if it could be potentially dangerous.
last but definitely not least is annie leblanc. where do i even begin with her. we've been best friends since we were ten, and still are. hence the "been". she's really sarcastic, but at the same time very sweet. i always thought she was cute, but halfway throughout last year, i realized i had a major crush on her. i haven't let that affect our friendship though. or, at least i hope i haven't.
she's also a half-blood. dad absolutely hates her dad, who's a muggle, but that doesn't stop mom from being friends with annie's mom. dad doesn't mind though, since annie's mom is a pure-blood, although i have heard him grunting about what a shame it is that she married a muggle and "wasted her magical blood". i almost said something, but then mom put a reassuring hand on my shoulder. she's one of the only people who knows about how i feel about annie. well, other than sean, jace and morgan of course.
i couldn't go to sleep, so i decided to feed my pet owl, lucy. i was coming out of my bathroom when i heard my mom telling me to come down for breakfast.
i went downstairs. london was talking about how excited she was to go to hogwarts. she's starting her first year at hogwarts. avi couldn't stop talking about how he hoped he would be on the quidditch team this year.
"do you think i'll get in asher?" he asked, his eyes wide with hope.
i was about to say that he didn't stand a chance against the other teams, most of who's players consisted of sixth and seventh years, but i didn't want to crush his hopes and dreams, so i said, "yeah! of course you will! but even if you don't, there's always next year." i said.
i'm one of the chasers for gryffindor. it's really fun actually. i doubt that there's an extra spot on the team this year though, but, like i said, i didn't want to be the one to crush my baby brother's heart.
i finished eating breakfast, then went upstairs to start getting ready. i got into some muggle clothes: a black hoodie with some acid washed blue jeans and white sneakers from a brand called "conversation" or whatever.
i took my trunk downstairs and then went back up to get lucy.
i helped dad put all of our trunks in the back of the car and then i took lucy and sat in the middle. the car ride was uneventful. i had to listen to my little siblings rant about school and how excited they were. not gonna lie, i actually zoned out halfway through.
i couldn't wait to meet annie. her shining face was stuck in my head. hopefully i'll be able to see her on the train. but if not, there's always the common room. also the fact that we literally share all the same classes.
we finally got to kings' cross. i went through the the barrier, then mom and avi came through, and then dad and london. i found an empty compartment and put my trunk up ahead and placed lucy's cage on a seat. a while later, sean and jace joined me. we did our bro-shake ( is that even what it's called? i don't even know but hopefully y'all know what i'm talking about ) and then morgan came in. i greeted her and then went back into the platform to say bye to my parents.
i ran back to the platform just in time. i closed the door, sat down and let out a deep breath.
"all aboard!" sean yelled. we all laughed.
"i can't wait till the trolley witch gets here!" morgan squealed, bouncing up and down on her seat.
"i can. you're way too hyper already. i would shudder to think what would happen if you were provided an endless amount of chocolate frogs and cauldron cakes." jace said, shivering.

"we don't have to wait though. i went to a muggle shop this summer, since my dad gave me muggle money to spend. and i bought all sorts of muggle candy. wanna try it out?" sean asked .
"heck yeah! show us what you got shawny!" i said.
we ended up trying these things called "mars bars" and "reese's pieces" and "skittles". they were actually really good.
halfway throughout the ride, draco malfoy came in.
"walters. come into our compartment. parkinson wants a word with you." draco
malfoy said.
"and why would i want to talk to that she-devil?" morgan asked. she hated most of the slytherin girls. except these two girls called lauren and nessa, but i don't really know who they are. i think one of them hates annie soo she's cancelled.
"i don't know okay. just come already so she'll stop eating my head." he said.
when morgan refused, he let out a groan. "look, i hate her as much as you do. maybe even more. but please come so she'll leave me alone." he begged.
"ugh fine, but if i lose control over my temper and hex her, it's not my fault." she said, holding her hands up.
"fine by me. maybe i'll joking you." he muttered.
"angel. evans. walker. had good holidays?" he asked.
we all nodded. "you?" i asked.
"pretty good." he shrugged. malfoy and i never really had any animosity between us, so we're good, i guess. ( i don't really know what animosity means, so we're hoping that it means mutual hatred. somebody look up the definition )
"wonder what that was about." i said.
"i hope they don't get into a duel." jace said, looking worried.
"eh, if they do, morgan will definitely beat pansy's ass. let's just hope we're there to see it." sean said.
we all sniggered at the thought of morgan hitting only with a bat bogey hex.
we finally reached hogwarts. i sat in a carriage with sean, jace and morgan.
"what did pancy want?" i asked her.
"eh, she just wanted to remind me that she hates me for hanging out with gryffindor and that i'm a disgrace to slytherin house." she shrugged.
"if you tell me you didn't hex her i will genuinely be upset." sean said.
"oh no i did. i hit her right in the face with a bat bogey hex." she grinned. we all laughed as she told us what happened.
the feast was great, as usual. dumbledore told us that the triwizard tournament would take place at hogwarts this year. their was a buzz of excitement around the air. that is, until he told us we had to be seventeen and older to join. sean swore under his breathe.
i was really exhausted from my journey. i was about to go and say something to annie, but she looked too tired, and goodness know what would come spilling out of my mouth when i tried to talk to her whilst i was extremely jet lagged.
"fairy lights." i yawned and walked inside the great hall. fred and george were holding a back to school party, but i was too tired to participate. so me and jace went upstairs and i collapsed on my bed without even getting dressed, thinking about how much i had missed hogwarts.
