Shuichi POV

A couple of weeks went by and things got a lot better. I moved in with my twin sister and mom. We got used to each other pretty quickly. She and I would watch tv and study together. We would also get into fights and she'd threaten to kill me.

Little did I know that being Maki's sister would come with two other "siblings" Kaede and Rantaro. They'd call me the youngest sibling and constantly boss me around. We'd walk to school together and hang out constantly. It was pretty nice. Rantaro got me into Hope basketball, which was pretty exhausting but fun. Kaede and I would constantly hang out at the library cafe and read manga together. Maki also taught me self defense tricks and how to use weapons. It was odd. But it felt nice having three people around who loved me. They'd wake me up in the morning and make me sleep early at night.

Things with my mom weren't going as well. I was still pissed about her not answering my dad and lying to Maki. But I could finally see where she was coming from. She was young and stressed and couldn't handle a relationship with an older man. I'll never know why she didn't take both me and just Maki but I treasure the time I had with my father. In a way things couldn't have gone any better. My mother was an elementary school principal and former child actress. She bought me new clothes and made sure I was always comfortable. I was beginning to get spoiled by her. She and Maki were excellent cooks.

It was easy to fit in at school. I quickly got admirers and made friends with the whole basketball team. Kokichi was weird, but it was nice to watch him draw. Sometimes he went off alone and sang. It might seem odd, but I followed him. I guess that's around the time I began observing people. We began eating lunch together whenever I wasn't with the others and I'd always help him with class projects.

Like how I observed Kaede. She would constantly help her friends. She would carry their backpacks to class and I would have to help her out. She also got them out of trouble a lot.Rantaro was kind of conceited, but he was kind and talented. I could see why the whole school would ship them.  However, I kind of liked her and felt jealous seeing how close they were.

It was nice to be around her. She was cute and smart. She brightened my day. Kaede would often play piano in the music room, causing everyone to peak in and admire her. She was passionate and seemed absolutely relaxed when she played the piano. She also liked acting a lot. I couldn't help but fall in love.

I remember the day I finally allowed myself to literally fall for her. It was after playing basketball with Rantaro.  We often played during free time when he was full of energy. I loved beating Kaito's ass and totally embarrassing him in front of the whole school. Kokichi seemed to love it too. Though he would often talk about how amazing Rantaro was. After our game Rantaro and I walked together as a crowd followed us in the hallway. Kaede and Maki were right behind us keeping us safe from the crazy fangirls.

As we were walking in the hall Kaito lost his shit. He threw his basketball in the middle of the hallway out of frustration. I noticed it was about to hit Kaede and pushed Rantaro to the side and caught the ball. I fell back on top of Kaede. Everyone cheered for me for keeping Rantaro safe and walked away. Leaving me and Kaede in this awkward position.

I store into her perfect eyes, blushing. I wanted nothing more than kiss. Rantaro and Maki just looked at us skeptically from behind a corner. A smirk on both their faces.

"You two are so into each other

"You two are so into each other." My sister said. Someone as perfect as Kaede would never love me.

Third person POV

The three of them sat on the bleachers. Rantaro took in the sun with his head leaned back. Maki was eating some lunch and tried to feed Kaede. Then Rantaro let out a small sigh and looked at the girls .

"I'm so sick and tired of Miu. Doesn't she understand I'm not interested." Rantaro spun an avocado from Maki's lunch box on his finger.

"And now everyone is shipping my brother with you." Maki smirked cutely.

"They all thought he was saving me that day with the ball. But he really likes Kaede." Rantaro put his hands on her shoulders grinning.

"What." Kaede broke out into a blush.

"You've been all over my brother since the day you met." Maki grinned, leaning her head on Kaede's lap.

"I don't like him." Kaede murmured. "If anything, Rantaro loves Panta."

Rantaro blushes. "Well, fine. But Maki likes Kaito."

She almost murdered them.

"Do you idiots want to die?" Maki asked, glaring.

"I'd love to die." Kokichi whispered from where he was stalking the gang.

He saw Shuichi walking over to them and watched silently.

"Well,if It isn't the man of the hour." Rantaro said, smiling at Shuichi.

A couple of days later the four friends, and a rat that was stalking them, came across a secret garden. It began to be the place they often hung out at. They all admired the beautiful flowers as they explored. Kaede was texting Kokichi gift ideas for Rantaro, not knowing he was in the bushes . Shuichi decided to hang upside by a tree reading his favorite book for the 100th time. Rantaro was reading a book laying on the ground shirtless.

"Let's make a time capsule." Maki spoke up, canceling out the peaceful silence. She got out a treasure chest she won from an arcade.

"That's so lame." Shuichi muttered.

"Do you wanna die?" She glared at him and he fell out of the tree.

"That's a great idea Maki." Kaede grinned widely. She took off a friendship bracelet she and her friends made. Maki and Rantaro did the same and dropped them in the box. Shuichi stood up and walked over to them.

Kaede put the Monokuma doll, a toy piano, and a picture of the four of them in the box.  Rantaro put a basketball keychain, his model book, a letter from Panta, his favorite glittery hair clip, and an earring in the box. Maki put a small knife, her hair ties, and a rocket ship toy in the box. Shuichi sighed. He quickly wrote a note, put his favorite detective book, and an unused condom in the box. Everyone of course laughed at him.

The four of them made up a secret handshake and promised to be friends forever.

They all promised they would come back 5 years later to meet up and check the box
