Sleep did not come easy.
He had stayed up all night just looking at the ceiling as those words haunted him.
It frustrated him to no end how everything moved so slowly for him. He wished he could just get it all over with and wonder what was going on.
Why they needed him.He wondered about his mother.
Oh no, my mother, Alfred thought.
She must have been terribly worried about him.He got up out of bed and changed into some new clothes that laid at the end of the bed.
A knock came to the door.
He opened it up to find the servant from the night before who helped him.
"King Benjamin wishes to have breakfast with you in private."
"He's not really my type." Alfred said bitterly.
"I'm sorry?"
"Nothing."
The servant led him to a different hall.
As they walked, he gawked at some of the paintings that hung on the wall.
Everything about the castle was stunning. He'd enjoy it more if he knew anything. They stopped at a single door and the servant knocked.
"Come in." He heard King Benjamin call out.
"You may go in."
Alfred went to turn the handle before stopping abruptly. He turned back to the servant.
"I never caught your name."
She smiled at him. "Catherine."
With that, she turned and left.
Alfred opened the door and walked in.
"Sit." King Benjamin gestured to the seat in front of him."We have alot to talk about."
Alfred took a seat and looked down at his food.
Just like last night, it smelled absolutely amazing.
"I decided instead of having you slowly learn what's going on, I'll just discuss it with you. First things first, eat. You need strength for today's training."
Alfred took a bite of his food. It was like paradise on his taste buds.
"First thing you need to know about is that we are called the Infinity Kingdom. There is another kingdom far across from us called the Idyllic Kingdom. We are Infinity because we are immortal. They are Idyllic because of their scenery on the other side. They however, are not immortal." King Benjamin paused to take a sip of his drink. "For the past weeks, the Idyllic Kingdom has been sending attacks on us. Not by sending over men but by cannons. I was told that a human would be the solution. Why? I don't know. But if it's you, I'd better get you whipped into shape fast. You're the only hope we've got."
"I'm still not understanding something. Is the Idyllic Kingdom some type of enemy?"
"No. We're allies, but lately something's been wrong. I don't know what it is though."
"Why don't you go over to the other side?"
"Are you crazy?" King Benjamin slammed down his fork.
"You're immortal aren't you?" Alfred asked. "Why not just go over and see why they're doing it?"
"Because that's not what the Waters of Wisdom told me to do."
"The what?"
"Nevermind that, you'll get a tour. Genevieve volunteered to give you a tour of the kingdom outside. You'll learn more along the way. Finish your breakfast and let's get you to training."
*****
Breakfast moved in blur. The more Alfred thought about what King Benjamin had told him, the more his anxiety spiked up.
He couldn't complain though. He got some answers. Even if it's not the ones he wanted.
Alfred was led outside to the back. There, he spotted the Knights training. All seemed to be doing their own thing.
Sword fighting, training with bow and arrows, or just working out.A boy of about eighteen ran up to him.
"I'm Titus." He stuck his hand out. Alfred shook his hand. "I'll be your trainer for all of this. Stick with me and I'll get you through training with only a couple of bruises."
How nice, Alfred thought.
He was handed some armour and a sword.
"Sorry for all of this happening so quickly." Titus said. "I'll try to help you out as much as I can."
"Thanks."
Then, a guy about Titus' age ran up to them.
Alfred recognized him as Roger, the guy who threw the mash potatoes at him during dinner.
"Hello, fellow brother." Roger grinned.
"He's not your brother, Roger." Titus remarked. "Sorry about his behavior last night. It wasn't nice."
"I thought it was funny."
"Of course you did."
The two bickered back and forth.
Alfred turned his attention to the Knights that were training."You know any of this stuff, Alfred?" Roger asked.
"Nope. Never seen any of it before." He replied.
"Come on," Titus said, "We'll start you off easy."
