When Natsu has nightmares:
Gray will often come home from a job or be asleep beside Natsu and notice him stirring in his sleep. He won't touch him and just softly call him name hoping he won't wake up yelling but that's almost never the case. When he did wake up Gray would turn on the lights to show Natsu that he was safe and only Gray was there. Once he started to calm down Gray would offer cuddles or if Natsu didn't want to me touched he would offer some water. When Natsu did accept the cuddles Gray wouldnt hesitate to pull him close and lay with him for the rest of the night, protecting him from his own nightmares.
When Gray has nightmares:
Natsu isn't usually a light sleeper but he will always wake up at the sound of Gray in distress. Even when Gray moved a little too much Natsu would wake up almost instantly. When he noticed he would call out to Gray quietly, careful not to startle him. When Gray finally woke up which wasn't usually with him yelling, Natsu would make sure to turn all the lights on and give him his space. After calming down Natsu will offer a hug, a drink, or cuddles. If Gray was okay with it then he would be quick to hug him and lay with Gray until he fell asleep again. If Gray wasn't comfortable with being touched or anything then Natsu would be patient and wait for what Gray wanted feeling that was the best option.
