3rd pov - after the series, because fuck it. Also, Project D are still together and shit, because I say screw canon.
It isn't that Akina never gets cold, or that the 86 has bad heating, but Takumi had always been warm coming down the mountain. Don't get him wrong, it is cold during the winters and fall, and he does have the heater on - though not very often or for very long - but there's something about driving his car down the pass, going as he usually does, that makes him forget the cold and have no problems with it.
This, is not helping at the slightest. The opponents had challenged Takumi on his home town, wanting to beat the 86 of Akina, but it was not that hard. Takumi had driven in the snow before, had drifted and everything, knows the pass like the back of his hand and his car. There is no reason for him to lose and he doesn't, the entire Project D chilling at the top of the mountain and talking to each other as they wait.
They had been having a get together, work and such keeping them from just relaxing and hanging out with each other lately, so they'd agreed to meet at the top of Akina and essentially have a picnic. It wasn't late, only about 4:30, so it was a picnic dinner, but these idiots had come racing up - recklessly, as Ryosuke had muttered when they showed up - the pass, then promptly demanded to race Takumi once they figured out he was the driver to the 86.
They had not given him a chance to say no and so he'd agreed, figuring it wouldn't be hard to beat them. It wasn't, they raced too dangerously and barely made it past the first turn before getting slowed by their own flaws, where Takumi had promptly passed them and had stayed in front until he passed the finish line. That had won him the race, since he had had to wait for several minutes until the other car caught up enough for them arrive at the top at roughly the same time.
Takumi had a bad feeling or he would've talked with the other driver at the bottom first like he usually does. Something in his gut said no, so he had kept driving, heading back up at a slower pace not only because uphill is harder on his 86, but because he wants the other driver in his rearview in case they crash. This is his course after all and he wants to make sure they're safe on it. They get back to the top and Takumi chills in his car for a moment, enjoying being in the warmth, before he turns his car off and gets out, meeting Shuichi as he comes up to him.
They greet each other with smiles and then Takumi hands over the keys, heading towards where Keisuke, Ryosuke and Kenta are talking. He's halfway there, when Ryosuke looks up and shock covers his face.
"Takumi, watch out!"
In the time it takes for the shout the register, Takumi is tackled to the ground and pinned, snow melting into his clothes and chilling him further than he already was. He might've felt warm when he got out, but he is thin and tall, with little to no warmth to keep him warm and toasty. The person who had tackled him sits up, straddling his waist and roughly pulls his head up by his hair, a grimace making it's way onto his face from the pain. The grin he can see out of the corner of his eye does nothing to sooth his worries or anything.
Ryosuke and the others had made a move, but upon catching sight of several guys holding knives, decided they have no chance and so they stay back, Shuichi, Tomiguchi and Fumihiro slowly edging towards them from over by the cars under knife point by some of the other racers. They are all worried, anger, concern and fury contained under their skin and in their eyes, which are all locked onto their captured teammate.
"You see, we don't like to lose. Being beaten by a little old 86? That's not acceptable, but being beaten by you? A newborn wet behind the ears adult? That is worse and so we're going to make sure you can't drive anymore."
The concern gets worse, though so too does the anger coming off the others, since there are many ways to take that statement and very few of them have good meanings. The leader on his back pulls Takumi up, getting him on his knees and pulls his arms above him, where he starts to tie his hands together, making sure he has no chance of escaping them. Vaguely, he registers the others being tied to a tree, but he's more focused on the rope around his own hand. Leader grunts and then tugs on the wrist tied currently, dragging Takumi - despite his struggles - through the snow and towards his car. The 86 is cold, made of metal for all that Takumi loves it, and he can't help his shiver as the leader ropes his other wrist through the grill, trapping him to his own car.
