*Ka-Ching*

"Here goes your caramel macchiato mam," said the cashier girl, handing my mom her drink.

"Thank you," replied mom.

Talk about being frank.

We took a seat in one of the many chairs arranged in the Starbucks café and I prepared myself for the worst.

"I've something to tell you, " we both burst out after five seconds.

"Huh, what do you have to tell me?" I asked mum.

"Um, you go first, " said she.

That's a first.

I looked at her nervous frame and told, "no, since you're older; you go first. "

She looked at me sternly and said, "I'm your mom. And so, I am ordering you to go first. "

I rolled my eyes and replied," Mom, both you and I know that our family is chill with our titles. Why did you even bother? "

I saw her face fall with that comment of mine. And retaliated.

"Uh- what I meant was, why don't I go first? It'd be fun! "

Hats down to me.

A bright smile enveloped her features, "Yes! "

"Okay, so remember how I was missing for the past few days? " I began when she suddenly interrupted me with-

"Sarah, I know all about it. "

"You do? "

"Yes. Jake told me. "

"He told you?"

"Yes"

Okay. I'm lost.

She was okay with me living in a desert for five days?

"So... " I trailed off, waited for her to complete.

"So, how was your road trip?" she asked, looking at me happily.

"Um, my road trip?" I think I paled a bit, construction of a lie forming in my head, "T'was great! I had a lot of fun "

My mom looked a bit perturbed, "Honey, Jake told me that you didn't like the place because you were allergic to the surrounding plants. "

"You don't have to pretend to enjoy it if you didn't. "

Aw, my poor, sweet mum.

I cannot hold in to the truth anymore.

I'm going to tell her everything.

Right from the scratch.

"Mom--"

"Well, I have to tell you something. "

Okay. I better let her.

"Yes mom? "

"We are... "

"We are???"

"We are... moving. "

What? Why? When? How?

"Mom??? You're kidding. "

She laughed out loud and said,"yes dear. "

My mother and her jokes.

Sipping her drink, my mom told, "Well, the real thing is, you are moving. "

"Hahaha.... Wait, no. Mom! This is even worse than us moving as a family. "

"But dearie, didn't you tell me the other day that you didn't like the school you go to and would, I quote, 'kill for a change'? "

Well, I guess I did say that.

"Mum! Jake's here! "

"Thats not good enough an excuse. "

"It is. "

And that was the last thing which I said to her.

Or anyone for that instance.

Wanna know why? Because getting outside, straight into the path of a green sedan is not the smartest thing to do.

Not unless it was planned... Which in my case wasn't

Time slowed down...

Motion.

Emotion.

Blobs blurring into one another.

And

Darkness.
