Lucies' POV:
As I came out of the slide? That's how I'd explain what it was anyway. As I landed it was surprisingly soft surface? I see some kind of mist or dust around me? I look down to see bags of flour below me. I hear sounds coming from the slide and all of a sudden the girl that was with me came from the slide but she was moving faster and went over the bags of flour and went head first onto the concrete floor.

I moved as quickly as I could with the condition of my ankle. I crouched down to her and shook her shoulders lightly she didn't respond. "Hey are you alright?" silence. "You don't need to speak just make a noise?" nothing. I started to panic. Was she dead? Did she hit her head to hard? I placed my fingers to her pulse, there's still a heartbeat. I was thankful to say the least. I started to hear voices coming from the slide, it was the soldiers. Could they fit? Surely they would be too big? Or was it just echoing from the top? I look back towards the unconscious girl, I couldn't leave her here, she saved my life! I started looking around.

I recognized a street sign. "Home isn't that far away from here" I whispered. As I tried standing up I was trying to think of how I was going to get me and the unconscious girl back to my "home" I look down to my ankle. How could I be so weak right now. A simple sprain and I'm useless. I suddenly start to hear boots slowly walking towards the alleyway I was in and I started to panic. But I wasn't going to leave this girl, I stood up not using my injured ankle for support as I put the brunette on my back and tried to walk the other way and away from the sound of boots.

I struggled to keep her up and on my back with the state of my ankle, I was at the stage of limping which hurt but I was focused and I'm not going to die. Not yet. And I'm not going to leave this girl to be tortured to death but soldiers either.

As I turn the corner the streets are clear, just a few people putting bags of old food into bins the usual stuff for back streets as I'm about to get out of the alleyway I noticed soliders coming round the opposite side of the alleywat as I exit my side. I leaned against the wall leaving room for the brunette on my back as I wait for the soldiers to leave and I was relieved to hear the boots of the soldiers walk the opposite way. Thank the walls, that was close.

As I continue to make my way down the street I can see the abandoned house I've stayed in for most of my life, it may be abandoned but it's still pretty stable, and it's still secure enough to last the winter it still keeps its warmth inside when a fire is lit.

As I make my way towards it I see the Baker that lives near me walk out with rubbish bags and a few loaves of bread. Milk bread to be specific. That was for me. He made it for me. Every few days he'd check up on me. Make sure I was still okay, he was the only adult I ever trusted in my life. He never gave me his name he just told me to call him Mr. Baker so I did. I was tired and weak I couldn't continue for much longer I was on the verge of collapsing.

So I looked towards him and just said a form of code word we made as I shouted "bread!" weakly as I fell down and landed on my knees trying not to injure the brunette more and more than she already was. Before I collapsed from my knees I looked up to see the Baker running over to me.

All I could feel was the girl being lifted from my back and out of reach. I'm not sure why but I didn't like that, not being able to protect the girl that almost gave her life to save me. If she was hit by one if those bullets that would've been it. I then suddenly felt a grip around my waist as I was lifted and put over the bakers shoulder. I was able to keep consciousness for a little while longer.

We were taken into his bakery and up the stairs to a few spear beds in his second room I knew about these spear beds, sometimes he would offer me a place to sleep if I was alone, he would offer it to me when I was up at night mostly from nightmares. But he then placed me onto a bed as he moved to the bed next to me and placed the brunette down. I turn to face her only to see her facing upwards eyes closed as the Baker grabbed some bandages and medical supplies and proceeded to clean her wounds it was only then that I could see the blood and wounds from the shattered glass that most likely came from the landing when we went through the shattered window, the Baker then wrapped bandages around her head. I'm thankful he was there, what if I collapsed and then the soldiers found us? We'd be done for. Tortured and killed, for what? For trying to survive. That's how cruel it is. The last thing I saw was him walking over to me as he took my boot off and started wrapping my ankle and foot with bandages. It hurt, a lot to be honest, but I was too weak to care about it, I knew I was safe now, and I knew the brunette was as well. I look over to her one last time, I saw her face her breathing. She was alive, but that's all that I could make out before falling asleep.

Nice and peaceful. I was safe. And so was she. We'd live.
