A female figure sat hunched over a lake her face reflected in the clear water. She splashed some on her face droplets falling from her chin. The girl moved strands of damp, black hair out of her face as she stood up. The girl is known as Chiyo, a ninja hailing from the Leaf Village who has been on a journey for two years. Her tall figure stood at five ten and her hair had grown out much longer now going past her but. Her red eyes sparkled in the sunlight having a much more mature look to them, as she stretched the girl let out a yawn. She wore a black top that ended just below her chest. It was decorated with a pattern of white flower shapes. She also wore a pair of loose shorts with fish nets underneath complimented by her shoes. She looked around taking in the scenery as a flock of birds flew overhead, Chiyo raised an eyebrow not seeing her wolf companion nearby which was odd considering that she was always next to her. The black haired girl bent down picking up the sword and mask from the ground securing them on her waist.

"Midnight?" she called out only to get silence back, she walked through some bushes finding said wolf laying in another nearby clearing.

"There you are" she said, the animal turned her head spotting Chiyo standing there. The look in the animal's eyes was different than usual,

"Something on your mind?" the girl asked. The wolf stood up towering over the girl. Midnight had grown a lot as well over the two years she had been traveling with Chiyo. Her form was much more intimidating and muscular.

"I was thinking" she said calmly,

"about what?" the black haired girl asked. Usually if something was on her mind Midnight was always wiling to tell Chiyo.

"Do you miss the village?" Midnight spoke. Chiyo raised an eyebrow, of course she did. Being out in the wilderness for all this time had felt rather lonely. She always wondered how her friends were doing.

"sure I do" she responded.

"but these two years have been important to help me get stronger" she said.

"Do you want to go home" Midnight continued, Chiyo sighed. She knew that Midnight knew about her feeling lonely all this time.

"I do eventually, but I still have some work to do" the girl smiled.

"That reminds me" the wolf said, Chiyo looked at her companion.

"There's one more thing I want to teach you" she stated. The black haired girl raised an eyebrow. Midnight had never mentioned any skills that she had planned to teach her, then again Chiyo trusted the wolf.

"Follow me" she said, Chiyo did so a comfortable silence fell upon the two.

"So, what were you gonna teach me?" Chiyo asked. Midnight sat in the clearing.

"It's a skill that even your mother and father struggled to master, it allows you  to fuse yourself with my spirit. It will allow you to become stronger and heighten your senses" Midnight explained. Chiyo's eyes went wide,

"I never knew that was possible" the girl said.

"It won't be easy, but once you master it you'll be done with your training" At that Chiyo smiled.

"Alright! We should start now" Chiyo said excitedly. The wolf chuckled as her enthusiasm, the black haired girl was happy she had come so far. And now, it would soon be time to head back to her rightful home in the Leaf Village.

"start by mediating, you need to clear your head" the wolf instructed. Chiyo nodded as she sat on the ground. She closed her eyes taking a deep breath as Midnight sat next to her. A silence fell over the area as the air became calm.  Moments passed as blue energy began to emerge from the wolf's body. It surrounded Chiyo making her feel a surge of power. She kept her eyes closed as blue markings appeared all over her body. But, just as they had appeared they were gone. Chiyo gasped opening her eyes,

"did I not do it right" she asked.

"It was a good first try, you did well. However it will take time before you can maintain it for long periods of time" Midnight explained.

"This is awesome" the black haired girl smiled. She was excited to think that she would soon master the same skill as her parents before her had.

"I'm gonna keep practicing" she said in a determined tone. Midnight nodded laying down on the forest floor.

"Three minutes not bad" Midnight said as the blue markings disappeared from Chiyo's body. She felt a bit frustrated that she still had no luck.

"I don't know what else I can do to get this right" the girl looked down. The wolf walked up to her,

"you shouldn't get too stressed, you've made considerable progress" she told her, the tone she spoke with sounded like a mother.

"Now, why don't you rest, the sun is starting to set" Midnight pointed out. Chiyo looked at the sky seeing the sun starting to disappear behind the clouds.  The once clear blue sky had turned into a mix of pink, orange, and yellow.

"I guess you're right" she said heading towards her tent. She was starting to feel tired.
