Chiyo's Return To The Leaf Village

Chapter 14

      More time had passed as Team Kakashi paused their journey to get some much needed rest. Midnight was curled up while Chiyo leaned against her her mask and sword being left with the rest of her supplies.

"Okay, breaks over" Kakashi stood up, the black haired girl groaned tiredly as she stood up along with her wolf companion. She grabbed her mask and sword making sure neither item had been damaged before sliding her mask back over her face.

"Huh? Kakashi Sensei, where's Naruto?" Sakura asked looking around.

  "Up there" Kakashi pointed upwards, the group looked up to see Naruto standing on a tree branch above them eyes looking forward. Behind him the sun began to rise.

"One more day until we get to the Sand" he said to himself.

"Okay, let's get going." Kakashi announced as the group finished gathering their things. Chiyo was already on Midnight's back.

      "Alright!" Naruto exclaimed as Team Kakashi made it out of the forest and into the desert. The large area before them almost seemed neverending.

"The Village Hidden in the Sand is up ahead" Temari stated.

"I'll take the lead from here" she told the group,

"we're counting on you" Kakashi replied.

      A strong wind blew through the desert as Chiyo and the rest of the group stayed hidden in a cave. Sand that had been picked up flew through the air making it almost impossible to see.

"We're so close to the San, I can't sit around waiting!" Naruto exclaimed. Kakashi put a hand on his shoulder,

  "Naruto, I told you not to lose your patience" he said.

"But..." the blond tried to protest.

"Be patient right now, Temari is the one who's the most anxious" Sakura spoke up. Chiyo nodded knowing it must be hard for the girl considering what had happened to her brother.

"The ironclad rule is to stay put right here if you encounter a sand storm. You lose your sense of direction in a sandstorm." Temari explained,

"we often hear of people dying of dehydration after getting lost in the desert. It'll be ok, a sandstorm around this time of year shouldn't last too long." She reassured the group,

"please let up soon" Naruto said to himself.

      The sandstorm had finally let up allowing the group to continue, as the sun rose in the sky Team Kakashi, lead by Temari, could finally see the Village Hidden in the Sand. They picked up the pace as they finally made it to their destination.

"We've been expecting you" one of the men standing by the entrance said.

"So you were with them Temari?" the second asked.

"Please, come this way" the first said. The group entered the village an anxious feeling bubbling up in the pit of Chiyo's stomach.

"What?! They got Kankuro too? Temari asked.

"Yes, Lord Kazekage was taken and Kankuro followed in pursuit. Kankuro was poisoned by the enemy and we don't know how to neutralize it. At tjis rate he won't..." the ninja explained,

"damn it" Temari cursed under her breath.

"Let's hurry Temari, I'll take a look at him" Sakura said.

"Kankuro" Temari called her brother's name as the group arrived to where he was being treated. Upon seeing Kakashi an old woman ran towards him.

"You jerk" she called out angirly as Chiyo jumped back in shock.
