After a long night of rain Chiyo exited her tent, she peaked out rubbing the sleep from her eyes.

"I see you're awake" Midnight spoke, she jumped back surprising her.

"You startled me" she chuckled putting a hand over her chest. The wolf chuckled allowing the girl to pet her head.

"It's early, it would be a good time to continue your training" she spoke. Chiyo let out a slight groan,

"alright" she mumbled under her breath. She stood up stretching her stiff limbs. She could hear the sound of some birds chirping a distance away. Chiyo went to refill her water, she carefully stepped around the puddles the rain had created over the night.

"Man, that was a pretty bad storm lst night" Chiyo said to herself, she looked down at the river below her, the water rushed downwards winding through the vast expanse of trees.

"Are you ready to start again" Midnight snuck up behind her, Chiyo turned on her heel a determined smile on her face.

"Yep!" she said, the wolf nodded as the two made their way back to the camp site they had set up.

"Try standing up, it worked for your mother" Midnight told her, Chiyo nodded as she stood in the middle of the clearing. She sucked in a deep breath focusing on clearing her mind, things around her went silent. Moments passed as the blue energy surrounded the girl, the same markings appeared. They covered her arms legs, and crawled up hed neck. Chiyo's eyes slowly opened her eyed, they looked different. They had gone from normal human eyes to what appeared to be the eyes of a wolf. But suddenly it was all gone.

"Oh, come on. I was so close" Chiyo whined.

"What I have I said about getting discouraged?" the wolf scolded in a motherly tone.

"Not to...." the black haired girl said pouting.

"Exactly, now try again" Midnight instructed. Chiyo took a deep breath,

"alright, here goes" she said to herself. She sucked in a deep breath as she closed her eyes. The win picked up around her as she concentrated on clearing her mind. Once again she felt a surge of energy flow through her. Her eyes sprung open now resembling those of a wolf. Chiyo looked down at her body expecting the markings to disappear like they had before, but to her surprise they stayed.

"Midnight I-" she started to say but stopped. The wolf was no longer by her side.

"Good job Chiyo, you've mastered the basics" Midnight's voice caught her off guard.

"And yes, if your wondering, I'm in your head. In this form the two of us are one" she continued.

"I finally did it" Chiyo exclaimed. The energy left her body as Midnight reappeared.

"So, does this mean I can go home now" the girl asked hopefully.

"Well, you may have already mastered the basics but it's a good start. You can continue getting better at it" she said causing Chiyo's smile to drop,

"when you get back to the village" the wolf continued.

"Don't mess with me like that!" the black haired girl whined still jumping up and down excitedly.

"Let's get going then, I wanna get back as soon as possible!" she cheered. She ran towards her camp site to pack her belongings.

"I wonder how everyone else has been" Chiyo asked herself. Midnight simply chuckled watching her while smiling.
