There it was, The Hogwarts Express. Draco and I had said goodbye to Narcissa after she dropped us off. Lucius couldn't join us in saying goodbye since he was off at work. I wasn't surprised since it was obvious that his work was his main priority.

Although, I could tell that Dray wasn't disappointed. In fact, he was pretty relieved, because when his father was around Draco always felt the expectation to be perfect.

I felt pity for him knowing that he would never get a good relationship with his father.

Draco and I made our way through the train all the way to the back. As we passed by the compartments I observed all the people inside hugging each other and laughing together.

It felt nice to be around so many people like this. Draco and I found an empty compartment near the back of the train. We went in and took our seats sitting across from each other. A few moments later the compartment door had opened, and in walked a group of people the same age as us.

"Draco long time no see," one of the boys mentioned. I had recognized him as Blaise Zabini. I had seen him a couple of times at the Malfoy manor since he was also close friends with Draco, although I wasn't as close with him.

Behind him was Theodore Nott, another one of Draco's friends. They had walked in and both sat on the same side as Draco.

Then I noticed two more girls walk in.

"OH MY GOD, DAPHNE? PANSY?" I yelled out. I had known the two of them for the past 6 years. They were also some of my closest friends. I got out of my seat and jumped into their arms feeling their warm embrace.

After greeting each other we had taken our seats with Daphne and Pansy sitting on the same side as me. We all started to catch up on each other's lives until they had turned to me.

"So, Malia how have you been?" Blaise asked me. He knew about my mother leaving and even though we weren't too close he always made sure I knew I could talk to him if needed. I appreciated him and Theo for still checking up on me even though we weren't too close.

"Yeah, I've been... good," I murmured giving him a small smile. Blaise nodded and continued to talk to everyone else.

I had looked across from me to notice that Draco was looking at me, eyes filled with disbelief. He quirked an eyebrow in question and gave me a look saying,

'you think I'm stupid?'

I smiled at him giving him a look that just said,

'yes I do'

I let out a small chuckle and turned back to the group.  We had all been talking about which houses we would be in and of course, all of us said Slytherin.

"I want to be in Slytherin just like my mum," Pansy spoke.

"Same, both my parents were in Slytherin. Also, Pansy how is your mum? I heard you both went on a trip for the holidays," Theo asked.

"She's doing great, and yeah we went on a trip to the Netherlands and it was amazing!" Pansy told us. "Although the muggles were an even bigger pain in the ass than they are here," She laughed. Pansy had kept going on about her trip with her mother, talking about how much they "bonded".

I felt my stomach drop at the subject of her talking about her mother like that. I didn't really know if it was guilt, anger, or confusion that lead this to be my sore topic but I definitely couldn't sit here and listen any longer.

"I'll be back guys I just need to go change into my robe," I got up from my seat and walked out quickly before anyone could ask me any questions. As I was walking down the train I began to feel an intense cool breeze.
