My alarm neighs at 5:30. I stretch and slowly get out of bed. I tiptoe across a very heavily sleeping Grace and go to the bathroom. I turn on the shower and hop in, washing my hair, shaving my legs and arms, and using my Blueberry Sparkle Body Wash for a extra oomph to get up. I hop out, wrap up in my blue robe, and put my homemade hair moisturizing oil into my hair. Then I brush my teeth, wash and moisturizer my face, and French braid my damp hair. I open the door and check the time. /5:45, perfect\ I say to myself and tiptoe over to my drawer. I grab some old sweatpants, a tee shirt, some long thin socks, and my ball cap, and wake up Grace. She jumps and I tell her where the shower and stuff were. She got up and left as I went downstairs.
Walker is down there making himself some coffee, and I walk down the stairs. I hug him from behind around his waist.
"Good morning Rose" he says turning around and planting a kiss on my cheek. I blush and walk over to the coffee pot. I poured some into my horsey travel mug, and sipped it. The warm strong coffee rolled down my throat, waking me up some more. I threw on my boots and a barrel-racing hoodie, and go outside.
The air is thick with fog, but a little chilly. I head to the barn and open the door. Tons of neighs, kicks, and nickers come from the stalls.
I quickly went through the motions of morning chores, including feeding, watering, and mucking the stalls. Then I grabbed Moonshine and Cinch from their stalls. Cinch lazily followed me, still groggy from sleep, but Moonshine was wide awake and prancing down the isle. I put them in the cross-ties and took off Moonshines heavy purple fleece. His body shone like silk, and his mane was smooth and soft. I grabbed his trailer kit, and put on some purple shopping boots, his trailer scrim and blanket, and his fuzzy breakaway travel halter. He was nice and cozy looking while I did Cinch. He lazily cocked his back hoof, and took long sleepy breaths. I tickled his whiskers and laughed as he pulled his lip up. I took off his hunter green blanket and polos, and put on his green shipping set as well.
Soon, they were all ready to be put in the trailer, as I waited for Grace. She came in wearing black paddock boots, with black sweats, a hot pink sweatshirt with her hair pulled into a top knot. She yawned and sipped some coffee from her candy to-go cup.
"Morning Grace. Can you help me load Cinch? He has a bad phobia of trailers." I say grabbing his green lead rope. She nods and walks with me to the trailer. Cinch's ears swivel and he shutters at the sight of our silver trailer.
"It's okay boy, you will be fine" I murmur to him while petting his neck. I lead him up the ramp, and he stops there. He sat there like a pony and wouldn't move. Grace took a crop and gave him a few taps. Then I said "Grace, pretend your swatting a fly not an infant" and with that, she swatted his rump. He jumped forward and I got him in the trailer. I sent Grace to get two flakes of hay while I loaded Moonshine. Thank goodness he loved trailers, and eagerly hopped in at the sight of it.
Grace came back with two flakes of hay, and we filled their hay bags. I pulled out two peppermints and fed It to them before the ride.
Walked came out with our duffel bags, wearing his casual jeans and tee, and we all hopped in. I sat in the middle by Walker and Grace hopped in beside me. He started the truck, and we pulled out of the driveway. I turned on Prime Country and leaned against Walker. He put his arm around me, while Grace listened to her IPod. Soon, we stopped at Dunkin Donuts and got our fix of bagels, coffee, and scones, and were on our way.
**
Walker shakes me a little as we sit in a parked truck. We were at his cousin Jerrods ranch, called the J&J Ranch. He kissed my forehead, and I flutter my eyes open.
"Baby, were here." He says. I scooched closer to his chest and snuggled in. He laughs deeply and I smile.
"C'mon we got to get the horses out. I'll save the snuggling for later." He slowly gets out of the truck as I sit up. I shake Grace until she finally gets up. I hop out and stretch. The coolness of the air surrounds me, and I shiver in my hoodie. I go to the side door and untie Cinch's green lead rope. He snorts, and I walk him backwards down the ramp. Walker opened it, and Cinch stumbles out. I hand him to Walker and grab Moonshine. He slowly ambles backwards with no problem, and I pat his neck. I walk him around a bit to stretch his legs, and tie his lead rope into a small knot under his chin. I throw the makeshift reins over his head. I throw myself on him bareback. I walk him around the trailer while Grace hops out. She sips her iced coffee, and shutters.
"Why is it soo cold when it's August?!" She mutters. I nod in agreement and reply "Come hop on Cinch, I'm just walking them around to stretch them out."
She sets her iced coffee on the rim of the trailer and undo's Cinch's lead. She ties the knot, and tries to hop on His back. She falls, and tried again. She huffs in frustration. I hop off, and help her hop on. She settles on Cinch's broad back, and starts walking him.
I walk back over and try to hop on Moonshine, but he keeps moving. Then someone comes behind me and helps me up. I turn around, and look into the bright eyes of the guy who I ran into at the grocery store.
