I galloped over the hill and headed back to the barn. The sunset was gorgeous and it was slowly starting to be a chilly august. I walked towards the barn and hopped off Moonshine. He snorted and stomped his hoof impatiently. I gave him a peppermint from my pocket and walked inside the warm barn. Walker was in there, raking up rocks, and Grace was putting away Willow. She was white as snow and had her pink light blanket on. I put Moonshine in the cross stalls and removed his tack. His black back was smooth and shiny from the ride. I threw on his warm, purple blanket and put on his comfy purple halter with fluffy pads. He nickered his thanks and I slipped him a carrot. He chewed, splaying bits everywhere like a pig. I laughed and lead him to his stall. He slowly ambled in, and nibbled at his hay net. I turned around and Walker was standing behind me. His bruise was a faint purple, and his lip wasn't any better. He smiled and said "Hey".
"Is that all you can say is "Hey." Like nothing ever happened. What the hell is your problem with Colton?" I frustratedly said not looking in his eyes. I walked around him to go to the tack room when he grabbed my arm.
"Ro I'm sorry ok? I just was.." He fumbled. I turned around and took my arm out of his grasp and snapped.
"Colton is my closest thing to Will ok? You happy now? He is like the greatest brother I could ever and will ever have." My vision blurred. "I don't think you understand at all how hard this has been on me. You trying to get closer to me just wants me to push you away even harder. I can't stand anymore of my friends being hurt. I knew it should have been me who died in that barn fire." I screamed. He stood there, taking in all my hate, and didn't say anything. I started crying, and Grace came up behind me. She took me to the house and made me a cup of cocoa.

I cuddled in my horse blanket that Will had gotten me for my 15 birthday. She came over with two steaming mugs and sat them down on the table.
"You ok Rose? I'm here if you wanna talk about it." She said casually sitting on the recliner. I sipped my cocoa, and nodded. I told her the whole story, and her eyes widened and filled with tears. I told her about our dates, and the things he would do for me, even the funeral and Colton. By the time we finished, it was 6:30 and our cocoa was long gone.
"You know, none of this was your fault. He did it because he loved you, and you know that. Walker... He is a good guy. I mean, really good, and not just because he's a hunk." She said giggling. I sighed and said " But why did he have to pin down Colton? What is he so afraid of? I've known him for a week." I said with some attitude.
"He doesn't want to lose you Rose. Your some kind of reflection to him that he doesn't want to lose. He was just trying to keep you from going on with Colton, who I might say, is pretty cute if you ask me." She said blushing. She totally is crushing on Colt.
"I can understand that." I said. Then I looked at the date on the calendar. August 2. Oh my god! The six day events starts September 1st!
I scramble up and scare Grace.
"Rose! Are you okay! What is going on?" She said while I ran to the door. I threw on my boots and looked at her.
"I have to go find Walker." I say, and run out the door.
