He is one of my many favorite superheroes. So I'll give a little background so you understand it more. (I also just want to empty all of my knowledge on you guys.)

Novas, what the heck are they? Well, their space cops. They protect their planet Zandar (as seen in Guardian of the Galaxy movie) with helmets that grant power to the wear via Nova force. So far there are like two Novas, like superhero guys, so far. Normally, (actually almost always) the Nova Core is no more, you know they're all dead or something. The old one, who I know almost nothing about other than this comic I found for like 33 cents. (I only bought them cause Sams in it too.) He was a Avenger and got his helmet from an alien thing and the last Nova in the world or space. He also has been dead for like a long time. I think he was just resurrected. See image

Ok, now the only one that matters, Sam. So his dad was a Nova, but a special kind. His helmet was black and gave him unrestricted access to the Nova force. (Normally you would have to go up ranks and stuff and slowly get more power, don't ask me how old Nova has practically the same powers IDK.) So when his dad quit being a Nova and lived on Earth to have a normal family which he does. He would tell stories about his time as a Black Nova and that they would eventually call him back. But one day he just goes missing. Sam, being done with his dad goes to look for him and finds the helmet and let's just say adventures begin.

The whole goal for Sam to find his dad, he knows he has to be somewhere in space. He has his space adventures, misses school and dystores skate parks in the process. It also taking place in Arizona, not in New York is a nice change of pace. (Real question why does EVERY SINGLE HERO live in NY. It can't be that big right?) He is also a great well rounded character and every interaction with anyone is just a meme. Here are some of my favorites. (There pretty much memes at this point.)
