"Xaiden look here!" His mom called out to catch his attention and look at the camera, which he did. She was taking a good picture of his son well of course- it's the day he's finally free from university, It was his graduation.
"Mom, we've already took a lot" he says without sounding harmful. His mom only looked back at him with a big 'no' face. "Ah, you don't need to be a joy killer! It's your day." His mom replied.
Xaiden could only smile at his mom, as he began to think who's graduation it was today, his mom or his. It was already the end of the ceremony but that doesn't stop mothers taking thousands of pictures of their sons and daughters.
"AIDEEEEEE!!" Someone called from his back and judging by the voice, he knew already who it was. Vance, his childhood best friend, Vance Mayer that's two years older than him.
Of course he'd come, Xaiden couldn't help but mentally roll his eyes, not that he didn't like the elder's presence, but he was just kind of noisy.
"CONGRATS FOR SURVIVING HELL!!" He cheered loudly enough for people to look at their small circle and stare at them weirdly.
"Well.. Thanks." Xaiden replied cracking a little smile.
"You're finally working with me! I've been looking forward to this, anyways you might need to pack your bags since tomorrow we're leaving early-"
"Wait, woah woah.." Xaiden tried to stop him and he succeeded. Vance stopped while looking at him a bit confused.
"First of all, I know you're excited but let me take a breather first-"
"Actually, Vance has a point. You don't have time to take a breather, people there at the institute doesn't like to wait good students." His mom interrupted while chuckling. "So, you should go as soon as possible." She added before smiling at Xaiden who looked defeated.
He just graduated for fuck's sake and the next thing he's doing is working?? Already?? Well, that's just unfortunate.
He wanted to say something about it but he can't really deny anything, that institute was one of the best science institutions for technologies. Which was the thing he wanted to do. He studied hard for this so he didn't dare to ditch the opportunity just because he needed to take a breather.
"I really have to go that soon?" He sighed...
"Well, aren't you happy? You're finally making you're brother proud of you?" She smiled heartily. Ah, that man named Oliver. The man who died three years ago.
"Yeah.. I mean, I hope he is.." He replied while smiling sadly and his mom didn't fail to cheer him up. Vance also helped her to lift his mood, they ate dinner and celebrated Xaiden's graduation and his achievement to finally work at the institute his brother worked but never lasted long.
The rest of the day went quick, and the next thing he knew it was the next day. He was already hugging his mom goodbye for the last time since Vance will be going with him to drive him to the institution, at the same time he needs to work too.
"I'm gonna miss you so much." His mom slowly pulled off the hug and Xaiden smiled at her to assure her he'll be fine. He bid his farewell as well and entered the car.
Vance also started saying his goodbyes while slowly driving away from the younger's mother.
It was a few hour drive from their home so Xaiden didn't mind and slept since he was tired of waking up early especially when he had just a very exhausting day yesterday.

"Hey you." Vance called out softly, trying to wake the younger up.
