2. Should I Look?

Ring Ring Ring

I look at the screen of my phone sitting next to my laptop and see that Kyungmin is calling me.

My sister and I are close, but she doesn't call me that often. We text a lot, but calls are rare. I hope it's not an emergency.

Namjoon:
"Hey, Kyungmin! Everything okay?"

Kyungmin:
"Of course it is, Namjoon-oppa. Why is that the first thing you ask me?"

Namjoon:
"You just don't call that often."

Kyungmin:
"True, but there's nothing wrong. Well, not really."

Namjoon:
"What do you mean by 'Not really'?"

Kyungmin:
"I don't know how to go about telling you this. It's kind of insane... but, before we get into that, how's LA?! it's night time there, right?"

Namjoon:
"Los Angeles is great, and yes, it's a little past 10pm here. I'm just in my hotel room working on some music. Anyway, what were you going to tell me, Kyungmin?"

Kyungmin:
"Aish, I'm just trying to have pleasant conversation with you to start with, oppa. But, whatever. Bohyun found me on Facebook and I decided to add him."

Namjoon:
"Holy shit. I haven't seen that guy in a while. How's he doing?"

Kyungmin:
"He's doing well for himself. But, anyway, I snooped around and looked at his friends list to see who he keeps in contact with and I found Sooyoung's account."

Namjoon:
"Oh. Why are you bringing her up? She's in my past. I mean, I know you two got along back then, so if you want to rekindle that friendship, then, by all means, go ahead, Kyungmin."

Kyungmin:
"She has a son."

Well, that got my attention. I try to stay calm.

Namjoon:
"Okay. So? She could've married someone and they had a child together. Good for them, I guess?"

Kyungmin:
"I don't think she's married. A recent photo shows her family celebrating her son's fifth birthday. And, this boy is clearly her son based on the captions attached to the pictures. I mean, maybe someone else is the dad. But, didn't the two of you break up around that time?"

Namjoon:
"I remember the year. It was 2015. But, maybe she met someone in the US. Maybe that's why she was distant with me when she first moved to attend Stanford for medical school."

Kyungmin:
"Maybe. I mean, I don't know. Do you want to see what her son looks like?"

Namjoon:
"Not really."

Kyungmin:
"Okay. Hey, do you think Sooyoung would still be in California? What if she's in LA?! What if you see her?! Shit!"

Namjoon:
"Kyungmin, calm down! There are millions of people in California. I doubt I'd bump into her if she was still residing here! Does it say where she currently lives?"
