Chapter 8 / That Went Too Far

The duel between Dream and Techno had ended with the masked man's defeat, but only by one point. 10 rounds, Dream won 4 of them and Techno 6, it could have ended in a draw, but in the end Techno had disarmed his enemy, winning the last round.

After the event, the two had formed a bond and Dream had invited Technoblade to join his server. <<I don't know, I'm busy with other things right now...>> he replied and the other didn't bat an eye <<Not a problem, you can come whenever you want, know that you will be welcome. I have invited a few friends lately, I think you can have fun there. Plus I'm sure Wilbur and Tommy would be happy to see you again>> Techno had hinted a smile at the last sentence <<We'll see...>>.

After Mr. Beast presented him with the award, Techno gave half of the money to Dream, both for respect and as a thank you for the invitation.

Once back on his server, Dream tried to get back to his usual everyday life, but he was unlucky: the first people he met were Niki and Fundy seeking revenge. He was still angry with Niki for the fact that the day before the duel he had asked her <<Who do you think will win?>> and she replied with <<Umh... well, Techno is my friend...>>. At that point the man in the green hoodie simply told her <<Fuck you Niki>> and left, leaving everyone laughing.

So when he saw her with the fox-man the first thing he thought of doing was to leave. But then Fundy explained the problem to him, and Dream thought about it. Sapnap had made a mistake by killing Niki and Tommy's pets, even though from his point of view it was an accident. He had already apologized to Niki for Fungi, but he hadn't said anything to Fundy.

Dream of course was on the side of his best friends, but deep down the period of peace between the two sides was starting to annoy him, because he liked the conflicts. Although the matter wasn't going to concern him directly, he thought Sapnap deserved punishment for what he had done. After doing that reasoning in a split second, he decided to take Fundy to where the Dream Team kept their pets.

A few days later Dream met Sapnap and George who were returning from a trip, unaware of what had happened in those days. Sure, the duel had been broadcast everywhere, so they knew Dream was back, but they certainly didn't know that in the meantime he'd helped Fundy take his revenge.

When they entered the room there was no need for Dream to say anything, a fox was missing and that fox was Sketchers. Sapnap double-checked the tags to make sure he wasn't wrong, then turned abruptly to Dream <<Where's Sketchers?>>. The man avoided his gaze as he spoke <<I have something really bad to tell you Sapnap>> <<Then say it!>> he grabbed the collar of his hoodie, forcing him to look up at his face <<Spit it out!>>. Dream had no reaction, but internally he was almost scared of his friend. He grabbed his wrists freeing himself from his grip, and held Sapnap by the shoulders <<Listen to me carefully. Remember when you killed Niki and Fundy's fox about a week ago? Well, Fundy came here and took his revenge>> he paused looking at the blood covered walls <<Sketchers is dead>> he added lowering his tone.

Sapnap looked at the foxes that were left, his eyes were burning with anger. He clenched his fists, his hand gripping the hilt of the sword tied to his waist, and he pulled it out with a smooth gesture.

Without saying a word, he sprinted towards the exit, forcing the other two to go after him: at that moment Dream realized that his best friend was not angry, he was beyond furious.

Sapnap made his way to Fundy's base without a second thought, his grip on the sword was so tight that his knuckles were turning white. George looked at Dream hoping he might appease Sapnap's wrath somehow, but neither seemed to want to stop. It was clear, the war had begun again, and this time no one would give up easily.
