The only reason Schlatt hadn't collapsed on his bed yet was because of this sudden and unscheduled meeting with the former vice president. The stars lit up the square in front of the podium, where the bloody festival decorations had not yet been removed. Schlatt was extremely bothered by the grubby decorations, but the more he thought about removing them, the more he realised how lonely he was.

Tubbo was supposed to clean up after the festival, but he was gone. Quackity was supposed to replace Tubbo, but he was gone too. And so Schlatt was left with nothing but drowning in alcohol and choking on smoke. He had no intention of doing the work that was due to others, his pride prevented him.

<<Schlatt?>> Quackity's shrill voice drew his attention away from the square, the horned man had never been so happy to be bothered by someone. <<Well hello!>> he put on a forced smile <<I see you can't help but come back to me Alex>>.

In his defence, Quackity's smile was as forced as his <<Let's rather say I've put aside our fights for something more important>> Schlatt raised an eyebrow <<That is?>> <<Well, I have reconsidered everything that has happened, and I think the idea of putting a hotel instead of the van is a huge benefit to Manburg>>. Quackity was holding his hands behind his back, clutching a book.

Tommy and Wilbur were hiding in the decorative building they'd used on the day of the festival, Schlatt had his back to them, and Quackity gave them nervous glances from time to time. Tommy looked tense, but also excited. Wilbur looked at him with a hint of affection, he was so proud that the boy had come up with the plan all by himself, he hoped with all his heart that it would work.

They saw that Quackity was talking to the president, then finally he showed him the book. <<This is it>> Tommy said with a smile <<If he signs it we win>>. A few seconds of silence passed as Schlatt was reading the contents of the first pages, and Wilbur took the opportunity to whisper to Tommy <<You haven't told me what it says yet>>. Tommy's response was fleeting <<It's a permit>> he said without taking his eyes off the scene <<But there's a scam, we just have to hope Schlatt doesn't see it>>.

<<Why does this book have 100 pages if the permit is only in the first 3?>> the president asked doubtfully. Quackity laughed nervously <<I recycled an old book because I couldn't find anything better, that's all! You don't need to read the other pages>> he scratched the back of his neck <<Just... sign it and return it to me>>.

Schlatt looked up from the book, paused on what to do before starting to scroll through the blank pages. Quackity bit the inside of his cheek to hold back a curse. He looked up at his two allies, hoping they would understand he needed help. <<Fuck, this is bad>> Tommy bit his fist, Wilbur put a hand on his shoulder <<We have to get Quackity out of there before->> but he didn't have time to finish the sentence.

Schlatt closed the book abruptly making a face <<I will twist my wrist before I get to the last page>> then looked up at Quackity <<You got a pen I can use?>>. The man had to refrain from exhaling with relief <<Yes of course!>> he dug into his pocket, taking out the required item, and handed it to the president. He opened the third page, letting his eyes rest for a second on the giant Q of the signature written above a blank space. He couldn't help but laugh <<Big Q>> he said shaking his head <<Of course>>.

Quackity stood there, shifting his weight from foot to foot, simply waiting for Schlatt to sign and then Pogtopia would win. He felt proud of himself, for once he had a plan in place that would go the way he wanted. A sincere smile crossed his face as he thought of what would happen next: he would make Schlatt pay for everything he had done, he would take his rightful place as president, and Wilbur would rule with him.
