A few days after Heather's initial revelation that she had felt run down, Jake was trying absolutely everything to make sure she was okay.
But Heather refused to actually take a break and was still working, still doing her mom things and all the while trying to plan a wedding. Jake didn't know how she was still functioning.
She had barely slept the last few weeks and was looking paler and more sick with each new day. Jake wasn't happy in the slightest.
Without telling his fiancée, Jake had taken her slot two days that week to do her work and on the first day, Heather was passed out on the couch by the time he returned home. He had taken Juliet to work with him that day.
The second day, he had called in reinforcements. It was Friday and Heather deserved to do more than be a mom and look after Jake and Juliet and their home.
He had recruited Abby and Kaitlin to take Heather out for dinner and drinks and make sure she thought about nothing but the time she was spending with them. It didn't take much to convince the both of them.
"You're gonna make a great husband, where were you when my marriages failed?" John asked, sitting beside Jake on the set of the lead where he was on to talk about politics that day.
Jake looked up, rolling his eyes at his friend. Obviously Abby and Kaitlin had been boasting around the office at the fact that they were going out that night and didn't have work the next day.
"I was right here," Jake chuckled, looking back up at John. It was now his turn to roll his eyes. Jake always seemed like the perfect other half no matter who he was dating.
John just preferred that both he and Heather were a couple again.
Hearing his phone ring, he looked down, smiling at Heather's name on the screen.
"Hi baby," Jake answered, getting up from his chair and walking out of the studio not wanting anyone to disrupt their phone call.
"Hey, are you sure about tonight? Juliet isn't feeling well and I-" Heather began rambling and Jake rolled his eyes before he cut her off.
This reason alone is why Heather needed to get out of the house for a little while.
"You're going out, end of. I'm more than capable of taking care of Juliet. You deserve a break," Jake said in a slight warning tone that told Heather not to argue with him.
He couldn't see her but he could practically hear her rolling her eyes on the other end of the line.
"You're too good for me, you know that?" She sighed out. He could hear Juliet asking for something in the background and frowned when he realised she really didn't feel well.
He had initially thought it was Heather's way of getting out of going out and doing work at home but now he knew he'd have his work cut out for him.
"Mmm I'm sure that's factually correct," Jake responded, listening to his fiancée sit down bringing Juliet into her arms.
"Shut up," Heather grumbled, through a small laugh that brought a smile to Jake's face, "have a good show, I love you,"
"Love you more,"

It was almost two am when Jake heard the front door open. He rolled over, climbing from the bed and headed to the hallway.
