By the next Monday, almost a week after they returned to work, Heather hadn't felt much better but was hiding it from Jake as best she could.

He had noticed, like he noticed everything about her. But he didn't push her on what she was feeling, the last thing he wanted to do was annoy her and only have her close herself off more.

"Hey good looking, I'm running to Starbucks for a coffee, do you want one?" Heather asked, walking into his office, pulling her coat on as she stopped in front of his desk.

She took in a few new additions to his posters of unsuccessful presidential campaigns. Smiling softly at how geeky her husband could be, she turned back to him.

"Yes please, the usual," Jake said, standing and moving towards his wife, pressing a brief kiss to her lips before he was on his way to print more notes before his show.

Heather left his office quickly and darted down the hall towards the elevator. She made sure she had her purse while she waited.

The walk from CNN to Starbucks wasn't long and she made another stop at the pharmacy on her way back to the office. The bag hidden in her coat pocket when she got back to the building.

The elevator ride and the walk down the hallway was a blur as she made it to Jake's office. Her stomach was erupting with butterflies and anxiety.

"Here you go," she said, handing over her husbands coffee as she returned to his office, he looked extremely grateful for some sort of reprieve from the amount of work he had to do.

Jake thanked his wife, kissing her lips before glancing back down at her hands again.

"Uh, where's yours?" Jake asked, looking at her hands hanging by her sides. Her face fell when she realised in her rush, she had forgotten to buy her own drink to make it look like she had a coffee.

"Heather? What's going on?" Jake asked, standing again and moving to close his door before turning his attention solely on his wife.

Heather swallowed, she was scared that she was overreacting but this was the only explanation for how sick she had been and why her body was starting to change again.

"I think I might be pregnant," she said, pulling the bag from the pharmacy of her her pocket. Jake followed her every move.

It shouldn't have been a shock to Jake. When Heather was feeling well and Juliet was in bed, all they were doing was having sex either on their couch, in their shower or in bed. He didn't know why he even bothered pretending he had no idea.

"How do you feel about that?" Jake asked, moving closer to her. There was a bathroom just down the hall and he'd rather know now rather than later, "and why didn't you want to tell me?"

"It's not that I didn't want to tell you, I just wanted to be sure before I did. You really want this," Heather said, accepting the hug Jake pulled her into, "and I'm kind of excited it'll be nice to have another baby and maybe I won't be as..."

Heather trailed off. She didn't know what she was when Juliet was born and she still hated herself for the state she fell into and the way she had treated Jake.

"This won't be as much of a shock when the baby is placed in your arms, but I'm not leaving you either way," Jake said, kissing his wife softly as she wrapped her arms around him and pulled him closer.

"Okay, I'll go take the test," Heather said, kissing him again and then moving out of his office, leaving him alone with his thoughts.

He sat down on the couch wanting to wait for her before he got back to work.
