"THAT'S HOW SHE KNOWS THAT YOU LOVE HER, THAT'S HOW YOU SHOW HER YOU LOVE HER!" George sings the famous song at the top of his lungs, with Ethan joining in every now and again.
It's Ethan's turn now and he jumps onto the bottom step of the staircase, singing dramatically from the banister, "YOU'VE GOT TO SHOW HER YOU NEED HER, DON'T TREAT HER LIKE A MIND READER!"
"THAT'S HOW SHE KNOWS THAT YOU LOVE HER!"
"THAT'S HOW YOU KNOW THAT YOU LOVE HER!"
Together, they sing the last line, "HE'S YOUR LOOOOOVE!"
Ethan jumps down from the steps to strike a pose with George, both of them grinning, as if today is Christmas.
It's not Christmas, however. Jessica's wedding day has finally arrived, and George and Ethan, sensing the tension, took it upon themselves to lighten the mood. Despite their best efforts, I hear an emotional groan from upstairs that can only be Jessica.
I chuckle at them, "I think your singing is only giving your sister more anxiety."
George plops down on the couch next to me, panting a little, "Are you kidding me? That was a stellar performance given by Ethan and I. Jess loved it."
"I DIDN"T!" Jessica yells from upstairs.
Ethan shrugs, looking unconcerned, "Or, perhaps, she did not."
George sits so close to me that our arms and legs brush up against each other. The closeness makes my heart race. The hair on my arm stands on end. Heat radiates from George, and it only reminds me that I have been burning for George for the past two days.
It doesn't help that George and I are sharing a bed for the duration of our visit. Of course, George had offered to sleep on the floor and let me have the bed, like an absolute gentleman. I wouldn't hear of it, though. Instead, I'd spent the nights resisting the urge to roll over to George and cuddle into his side, or kiss his neck, or...well, more than that.
George sighs, looking over at me, "Now I really want to watch Enchanted."
I smirk at him, "Georgie, I think it's not the best day for watching Enchanted."
Scrunching up his nose, he groans, "Not you, too! My sister is a bad example to you."
Ethan laughs, his giggles sounding very close to the ones that George so often releases, "C'mon, Georgie! Don't you think your nickname is cute?"
"No!" George exclaims, looking more bothered by the second.
I giggle, "Well, I think it's cute. I'll be adopting this nickname, and keeping it, even after we get back to America."
George looks at me hopefully, "How much would I have to pay you not to do that?"
"There is no amount of money that would make it worth it to me." I shake my head, fighting a smile.
"Excellent."
From the kitchen, I can hear Mum call, "George! Could you come carry these boxes to the car? They're too heavy for me to lift."
He pats my knee quickly, and stands up, "Coming, Mum!" Before he steps out of the room, George points at Ethan, "Please do not give her any information that will embarrass me, please. Like, any time before I was in diapers."
Ethan nods, "So, nothing before yesterday. Got it."
I bust up with laughter, as George rolls his eyes, smiling, "Yeah, that sounds safe."
He leaves Ethan and I alone. I haven't been able to spend a ton of time with Ethan. Jessica has kept me fairly busy with her for the past several days. However, whenever I am around Ethan, I feel perfectly at ease. Ethan could just look at you and you would instantaneously feel this sense of calm. I have a feeling that Ethan was far wiser than his years.
