Chapter 3 - You aren't alone!

Main focus on: Pearl the Espeon, Gai the Umbreon

Featuring: Pearl the Espeon, Speed the Jolteon, Gai the Umbreon, Crystal the Vaporeon, Silvia the Slyveon

Pearl and Speed sat down on her bed, since Speed thought it would be a better surrounding than elsewhere. The sun mildly shines on them.

"So what is up Pearl?" his yellow mouth spoke calm, followed by a smile.
Pearl gulps.
"Well, the worst thing has happened, he confessed to Silvia."

Now that it was out, it already feels a little lighter, but the pain is coming up as well.
Speed's eyes widen a little.
"Oh... I see... so your worst fear has happened!?"
She nods.
"I mean, I can't lie, I knew this day would come eventually... but I hoped so much it would not, that he would change his mind....for me. Now... it's too late....they gonna become a couple and there is nothing I can do about it... or can I?"
Pearl weakly punches her pillow.
"I... I just can't accept it Speed... I can't... but... I don't wanna hurt them... it is like an unbeatable black cloud around me!"

Speed sat beside her and gently patted her head.
"There is always something one can do... or for now... we can do!"

Pearl looks up to him, that words gives her a glimpse of new light, you could say, Speed set a spark in her. It seems that's what a Jolteon does. His pleasant and friendly eyes help too.

"Thank you... it's really nice... to have you around..."

Speed is taken back by a sudden hug. The very soft fur of Pearl touching his rougher one.

"You know, you are so good at this, you could do it for a living!" Pearl jokes.

"No, because I only wanna do it for mons that are dear to me!"

The mallow pokemons smile got even wider at that.

1 day later...

The doorbell rings.
"Coming!" The Espeon replies the action letting the visitor know she will be right there.

The door opens and her eyes go a little wide.

Standing before her is a very clean looking Umbreon, with a new, boy-ish haircut.

"Gai, wow, you look good... and smell good too.... is something up?"

shyly the Umbreon nods.

"Yeah, hi Pearl, I was searching for you actually!"

Pearl would raise 55 eyebrows if she had that many.

"Me, why me?"
"Well, I was wondering if you... like... to go to town with me... I wanted to thank you for saving me back there, and I think a normal thank you isn't enough! So, can I invite you out for two big ice creams? It's on me. Please, I really wanna retaliate myself!"

Pearl looks at him blank, than got a gentle smile.

"Well... that's very sweet of you... but It's fine, really... you don't have to do this!"

"But I want to... and, and... I think you deserve a good time! You seemed quite stressed. Look, I got all cleaned up for... you!"

"Well, I suppose that's true, and yeah, you are right... I could use a nice time! Alright, I accept!"

"Yosh!" Gai screams and jumps in joy.

Pearl giggles.

"Under one condition! No peeking at girls! Got it?"
That got the Umbreon a little stiff.
"OK... got it!"
"Alright...I will just let the others know!"


While they are walking into town, Gai after some time got stiff as a board. SO many girls to peek at, and he wasn't allowed one quick look.

A female Absol and a female Zoroark walked by.

"Ughhhh, gotta resist the cuteness! Maybe just a peek! No, keep it together Gai! This is about Pearl!"
Gai thinks

A little later, Pearl suddenly speaks up.
"I am very impressed with you! You haven't even tried to do anything nasty!"

"Yea but it is honestly not easy!" Gai thinks.

"Well we have a deal haven't we!" he replies

Pearl nods gently and pats his head.

"Wow, that feels, nice... " Gai thought. It felt like when his sister patted him, but with a different charm to it.

At the house
"Boo!"
"Wahhh!!!"

Speed turns around.
"Kris man, I almost spilled the frosting!"
Crystal laughs in her usual manner.

"Heya bro, what are you doing?"

"I am making chocolate cake!" Speed says

"Oh, for us? Thats nice!"
"Actually, sorry no. It's for Pearl. She had a rough time lately and I wanna do my best to cheer her up!"

"Aww, that's so sweet of you. She has been acting weird the last few days. I wonder what happened. Has it something to do with Black?"
The Vaporeon asks a little worried

"Yeah, but, it's a secret I think. I may ask her if I can tell ya, ok?"

The Vaporeon nods.

"Ok, as long as she feels better, but I wanna help you. Don't get worked up all alone!"
"No, you don't have too, really, I..."

"No 'you', 'we', okay? I think 8 paws are better than 4, right?" Kris says and hushes him.

Speed gives in with a smile.

"Right!"

"Oh, by the way, I think Flare and Leaf are getting closer, I saw Leaf kiss his cheek when he gave her a flower. They are so cute together!"

Speed smiles.

"Man, he sure grows up so fast!"

"Yeah, he might have a girlfriend before us!" 

Back with Gai and Pearl...

Pearl and Gai finish their ice cream , Gai pays, and they walk out.

"Gai, thank you, you have been so great to me today! I really appreciate it!"

Gai sighs.
"Yeah, but now I have to come to another point why I am here. I realised you have been stressed by Black and my sister. I guess it is because you have feelings for him right?"


Pearl instantly is paralyzed.

"Sorry, but, I... don't wanna talk about it! "

"I know it's heavy, but Pearl, I wanna help you with this, and my sister too. She has been crying in my arms wondering what she did wrong, and even considering breaking up with Black because of you! She really cares about your friendship!"

"What... she... really?"

"Listen, I know that isn't an easy situation, but if this was Black's decision....and they got together...you're gonna have to live with it, and I wanna help you!"

"I..."

The soulwater is already in her eyes and starts to run down.

"Why... why can't your sister just have someone else... it isn't fair. I knew him much longer! He is my love! It just isn't fair!"

Eventually she finds herself in a hug, which Gai is very unsure of, but sometimes a risk has to be taken, and he is determined like hasn't been for a long time.

"Listen, I will try to be there for you. You aren't alone! I know Speed and the others will help you too!"

Pearl hesitates, her arms backing off at first, but then, she eagerly hugs back.

"T-thanks... sniff... you are really a good guy, you old pervert!"

"I may enjoy watching girls, but I also know when to focus on the ones I care about!"

They walk home close to each other, Pearl having a new level of trust in Gai. They talk about Silvia worries with Pearl.

"So, you can tell her that it's still difficult for me and I need time to come closer to her again, but she will still be my friend."

Gai's ears raise in joy.

"Yeah, that's great news. She will be so relieved!"

"Yeah, but you're gonna have to tell her only her awesome brother is the reason for it all!"

He smirks.

"You bet!"

Gai eyes fall on a pretty lady.... no flower.

"Excuse me a moment will ya! Close your eyes, and don't peek!"

Pearl scratch her head.

"Alright!"

She closes her eyes.

"Ok open them again, and don't take it weirdly please!"

Pearl is even more confused but opens her eyes anway.

Standing before her was an Umbreon with a red flower

"I think a friend with qualities deserves nice gifts!"

Pearl, this time, is absolutely speechless.

"Gai... I... wow... what a gesture!"

This is actually one thing she always hoped for Black to do.

She takes it with one little happy tear escaping her right eye.

"You're so silly... but sweet!"

Out of pure joy she leans forward and nuzzles his cheek, which lets the Gai fall over blushing.

"Whoops, sorry... I am....so touched!"

"Hehe... nevermind... it was... nice... not gonna lie!"

She giggles and helps him up.

At the door of the Treehouse.

"I had so much fun, thank you Gai!"

"Yeah, me too! I guess I will give my sister the awesome news now!"

"Yeah, do that! Mr. Awesome!"

She winks at him and goes inside, and Gai could not help but blush ever so slightly.

"She really is something!" He thinks.

5 minutes later in Silvia's room, Gai gets a very good hug from her sister.

"Big bro, you are awesome!" Silvia says with a thankful expression.

"Believe me or not, I have heard that before today!"

Hugs are also is given in the kitchen to Speed and Crystal.

"Thanks you two. It looks delicious."

Speed rubs his neck.

"Just a little something for you!"

Finally an Espeon's eyes could sparkle again.

"Guess today, I had a little eclipse! That may be a wonderful new friendship! I know now, I am not alone!"
