Brigette's eyes widened and she slammed the book shut. "She's Ladybug!? What?! How!? My sister is Ladybug?!" At this point, she was pacing around the room trying to comprehend the fact that her favorite superhero was actually her twin sister. Reality struck her and she froze. "How am I supposed to compete with Ladybug?!" She sat down on the chaise looking down at the diary in her lap. She knew this probably wasn't the best choice, but if she wanted to get answers, this was her only chance. She had seen how careful Ladybug was on keeping her identity a secret, so she wouldn't get anything from her.
Opening the book she starting reading from page one. If you want to learn everything you have to start from the beginning.
Brigette was so focused on what she was reading she didn't hear the footsteps getting closer until they came inside. "Brigette are you sure you checked everwhe-" She froze wide-eyed when she saw what her sister was holding. "You have it?" She said slowly, not wanting to believe her own words. Brigette snapped her head up to look at her, she opened her mouth to say something, but she wasn't able to force anything out.
Marinette grabbed her journal from her sister. "Are you serious Brigette?! I asked you not to read it!" She turned to walk away but she grabbed her hand.
"Mari wait, please! I can explain!" She sighed and spun around, to face her sister.
"What did you read?" She asked in a calm voice, despite her internal self screaming and freaking out.
"I, um... I read to the point where you wrote "I couldn't have asked for a better sister, then I stopped!" She waved her hands in front of her trying to gain Marinette's forgiveness. "I felt so bad for reading it when I got to that part I couldn't go on."
Marinette held the book close to her chest and gave her a questioning look. "Nothing else?" She asked quietly. She quickly shook her head.
"Nothing at all. It's not like you have any big secrets... Right?" Marinette suddenly went as pale as a snowflake. That confirmed it, she was Ladybug. How had she not seen it sooner? It made so much sense.
"No, of course not." She said, instinctively reaching up to touch her earrings. Brigette had to resist the urge to roll her eyes. Ladybug seemed to do a better job at hiding her identity than this.
"We are sisters Marinette, we can tell each other everything." She tried again, her patience quickly growing thin. Marinette and her used to always tell each other everything but since their first day of 10th grade, all of that changed. It was like Marinette had become an entirely different person. She still loved her sister, Brigette didn't doubt that for a second, but things were different, and she was going to figure out what it was and put things back to the way they were before.
"Then why don't you tell me what has been bothering you?" Marinette retorted, crossing her arms to her chest. Brigette gave her a confused look.
"What are you talking about?" Brigette asked, feeling genuinely confused. Marinette was the one who was acting weird, not her. She was the one keeping these secrets, disappearing at random times, she cannot say that she was the one acting strange.
"You just haven't been acting like yourself, what's going on?" She asked, looking at her sister concerned. They had lived together all their lives and even before that, she knew her well enough to know when she wasn't acting right.
"Mari..." She sighed, "it's nothing don't worry about it. I've just been a little stressed." Marinette dropped her arm dropped her arms to her sides and walked over to her. Brigette's eyes hit her lap, she felt the chaise sink down next to her.
"From what?" Marinette questioned, soothingly rubbing her back in circles, trying to calm her down. After all, Brigette was always there for her, it was time she did the same.
