| extended description |The first thing he noticed about Fiona Springs was her beautiful hair that dangled past her shoulders and down her back.
No, that's not right.
The first thing he noticed about her was the way she was looking sideways every now and then as if somebody was following her. He couldn't see her face, but he knew that she was beautiful.
He didn't bother to say hi.
-
The second time he saw her, she was reading a book on that park bench that he visits very often - especially during summer. Her eyebrows were knit together in concentration, her eye glasses dropping low, her mouth slightly open, her hair tied in a high ponytail and her green eyes glimmering from the sunshine. She was beautiful. He wanted to go sit by her side and maybe say hi.
He didn't.

Fiona Springs was the daughter of New Jersey's well known mayor Pierce Springs. Everyone at school knew her. Scratch that, everyone in the whole town recognized her. Fiona was a sweetheart. She had thousands of boys dreaming about and trailing behind her, she had a life full of luxury and gold by her. She was the future mayor according to the whole town.
But that wasn't what Fiona wanted.
Fiona wanted a small life as an author, living in a small cottage near the beach with two puppies maybe. She dreamt of being under the shadow, being un-popular and earning money by herself.
She didn't want a life of luxury, neither did she want fame. She just simply wanted a simple life.
That's why, every summer, she ran away to California, where she was never recognized and where no one had a clue who Fiona Springs was. She was absolutely isolated.
She was free.

Parker Adams had a boring life. His day started with going to school every morning and coming back home to leave again for his part time job. Parker usually prayed for a different life. He always wanted a girlfriend, but he was too socially awkward to ever have one.
He just wanted a change.
He wanted to run away from home one day and maybe visit Las Vegas or New York. He wanted to travel the world and have numerous summer flings. He didn't want luxury, no, he just wanted a life with adventure in it.
But all he had was a very sick mother, a douche bag of a father, and a petty job as a waiter in a restaurant near the beach.
He was saving money for a change. And most of the time he prayed that change would come to him.
And one day, it did.
