July 11th, California, 2014

The bar was busier than usual that day. There were people everywhere and Parker was busy wiping tables, taking orders, making drinks and what not. What he did notice was that Fiona hadn't come by to meet him as she usually would.

When it was finally lunch time, Parker decided to go meet Fiona.

He walked all the way to her bungalow and noticed a car in front of her house. A Range Rover. He hesitantly knocked on the door, unsure of whether he should leave or actually meet her.

Fiona opened the door, her face looking like she just woke up.

FIONA : Hey Parker, c'mon in.

PARKER : Am I interrupting something? You didn't come by today morning so I thought I might scroll by.

FIONA : Yeah, sorry about that. I woke up really late. And my mom is over actually.

Parker's eyes widened at the mention of her mother and he was surprised Fiona wasn't crying or looking upset.

FIONA : (laughing) Don't worry. She won't eat you.

Parker walked in and he saw a woman, in her mid thirties, sitting there on the sofa, her attention on her phone.

FIONA'S MOM : Rosalie darling, your dad is call-

She cut off her sentence as soon as she noticed Parker standing there. Her eyebrow rising slightly.

FIONA'S MOM : Who's this?

FIONA : For the billionth time mom, call me Fiona.

FIONA'S MOM : Who's this?

FIONA : Mom this is Parker, Parker, mom.

Parker politely took out his hand for her to shake. He suddenly felt glad that he hadn't bothered changing yesterday's shirt and going to work wearing it. It looked pretty clean.

PARKER : Pleasure to meet you ma'am.

FIONA'S MOM : (puzzled face) Call me Mrs. Spring please. Is this your friend?

FIONA : Mom, Parker is my boyfriend.

MRS. SPRING : Your boyfriend? Honey, you're kidding right?

FIONA : No.

MRS. SPRING : Shat about Takahashi?

FIONA : Who's Takahashi?

MRS. SPRING : Your boyfriend! Back in New Jersey!

FIONA : Oh right, that Chinese dude.

MRS. SPRING : He is Japanese.

FIONA : I clearly don't give a f- (falters) Mom. I never liked that Taka whatever. Look I really like Parker okay? For once just let me do what makes me happy.

MRS. SPRING : How long has this thing been going on? How long are you two in a relationship?

FIONA : Since yesterday.

MRS. SPRING : That's why I asked you to stop coming here. I knew you would do something silly. But really Rose? I expected better from you. A, a ghetto boy?

FIONA : Mom, don't. (face flushing red and fists clenching)

MRS. SPRING : Do you even know what people will say about our family? How could you like this cheap guy? (looks at Parker) What did you do to my daughter?
