Iris awoke with a nudge and she opened her eyes to see Marlene hovering over her petite body which somehow got on the floor. She got up stiffly and made her way to the shared bathroom that was empty and started her daily routine. Once Iris got out of the shower and finished doing her hair she put on her uniform with some red converse and looked at her schedule.
Ancient Runes with Hufflepuff
Arithmancy with Ravenclaw
Care Of Magical Creatures with Slytherin
Divination with Gryffindor
Muggle Studies with Ravenclaw
Defense of The Dark Arts with Gryffindor
Potions with Slytherin
She looked at her schedule and sighed, she had to be in Ancient Runes in five minutes but she wasn't looking forward to it. Lily was always her partner and all she did was talk in her ear about the runes, Iris was surprised Lily didn't get into Ravenclaw..What was the Sorting Hat thinking? Iris just shook her head and grabbed her bookbag and tucked her wand in her robes before heading out of the dormitory and down the stairs. Once she got down the stairs she was surprised to see Remus instead of Lily who always waited for her. "Lily asked me to walk with you since shes walking with James.." Remus scratched the back of his neck nervously but Iris just smiled and nodded while grabbing Remus' hand and pulling him with her as she ran to her first class.
Ancient Runes was boring as always as Iris sat at her desk with Remus since Lily ditched her for James. Iris thanked all the gods that Remus didn't talk about gossip or homework like people usually thought he would, he actually kept the converstation up with various prank ideas and what to buy at the next Hogsmeade trip. When the bell rang signaling the end of class Iris was relieved but also skeptical. Why was Lily blowing her off?
By the time Iris got to Care Of Magical Creatures she was about ready to blow up from all the knowledge floating around her head. Nevertheless she walked outside where the class met and she sat beside Remus who had accompanied her all day since Sirius was nowhere to be seen and James was still with Lily. "What do you think it might be?" Remus whispered into her ear "I have no idea.." Iris replied with a shrug. Suddenly the Professor and a Hippogriff came out of the bush causing abrupt panic to spread throughout the courtyard. The Professor explained how to handle a Hippogriff and to respect it until the bell signaled it was time to leave.
It was finally lunch when the Marauders grouped together and Iris couldn't feel anymore relieved. That is until Lily pulled Iris into a corridor to talk. "Okay Iris, I know you fancy James but back off. He's mine." Lily broke through the silence just to create heavy tension throughout the sisters and Iris glared at her "He isn't a toy Lillian. You can't pick him, you have to wait for him to actually like you back!" Iris whisper-yelled as the final students went into the Great Hall "Well, I'm not stopping until I get him!" Lily yelled as she ran into the Great Hall, her flaming red hair following her through the threshold.
As Iris got into the Great Hall and back in her seat at Gryffindor table she was fuming. How dare Lily treat James like her lap dog? How dare she take advantage of his infatuation for her? Questions swirled through Iris' mind until she got up without a word and went into the corridor again to cool down. She couldn't believe how Lily could do that then act as if nothing happened..Had she no shame? Iris growled in annoyance and kicked the wall before running a shaking hand through her hair in annoyance. Iris shook her head in disappointment at her sister and waited for the next bell to ring.
Potions had to be the most fun Iris had had all day. Sirius finally appeared and decided to be her partner and decided to cheer her up after Iris told him about what Lily did. So Sirius spent the whole class trying to make her laugh, causing many eyes to lock onto Iris' dedicated partner. Once they were finally done the potion Iris was surprised to see it was actually the right color. She didn't question it and handed it to the teacher.
It was the end of the class and Iris and Sirius were walking together laughing. Iris then jumped on Sirius' back and Sirius carried her all the way to the common room while laughing. She rolled her eyes when Sirius told her how heavy she was and she smacked him upside the head. "You don't judge a lady's weight Sirius!" Iris yelled playfully just as the rest of their group joined into the common room. Sirius surprised Iris by throwing her over his shoulder and running around the room "Put me down Padfoot!" Iris yelled "No can do Beau!" Sirius used Iris' Marauder name and she smiled even though he couldn't see her.
Once Sirius put Iris down she headed up to her dorm and read The Monster Book Of Monsters while dozing off.
