We finished tech rehearsal rather sluggishly, feeling tired from our long talk. Our five-minute break had turned into twenty but thankfully Ben had figured we could use it. Hopefully, we would have more energy for the performance tomorrow.

"Let's all have a sleepover again," Niall grinned, being the only one remotely awake during the car ride home.

"Niall, you make us sound like bloody twelve-year-old girls when you say 'sleepover,'" Liam chuckled. "But I mean, it sounds fun."

I laughed.

"Yeah, okay. S'not like I got anywhere else to be," Zayn shrugged.

"So... Louis and Harry's house again?"

"Why do you pick the one place to go which the two people who actually live there haven't even said anything?" Louis crossed his arms and raised his eyebrows at Niall.

"Because your house is the best," Niall grinned.

"Aw, Nialler. Sorry, no, but you can't live with us," Louis teased, ruffling the blond quiff.

"Hmph," Niall pouted, slumping back in his seat.

A few minutes later Liam pulled the car up to my and Louis' house. Even though neither of us had actually agreed the boys knew we would always let them crash with us.

The boys started getting out of the car but I gently tugged Louis' wrist to get his attention. He turned back to me with a confused expression and I waited until Zayn shut the door behind everyone.

"Lou, when are you going to tell the boys?" I asked.

"Tell them what?"

"About your dad?"

He leaned away from me sharply at that word as if I was burning. His eyes became hazy as if he was lost in his own mind. I watched as his hands began to tremble and his face paled. I was terrified of how he reacted just from the mere mention of his father.

"Louis?" I whispered, too afraid of alarming him. I got no response. It looked like he was truly lost in his own mind and couldn't escape.

"Lou..." I didn't know how to help. So I just did the first thing I thought of. Quickly, before he could protest or resist me in his state of mind, I crowded into him and engulfed him in a hug. I could literally feel how hard his body was trembling. Each jolt of his body caused him to silently gulp in air, almost as if he didn't trust his lungs to keep working.

I was terrified.

"Shhh," I whispered in his ear, even though he wasn't making any noise. Which almost scared me more. Louis was the loudest, sassiest, funniest person I had ever met, and he was deathly silent now, letting his body and trauma take over his mind.

I placed light kisses on his neck and shoulder to try and bring him back. I even ran my hands through his hair, knowing how much he loved it and just trying to do something-- anything to stop whatever was happening. I felt so inexperienced, and I just wish I knew how to help Louis more. I wish I knew what to do in this situation.
