Chapter 3 - The Hangout

Gavin's P.O.V

It's been around two hours since we arrived in Troacia.

I remember the first time I met Alex and Damien when they came to Ustrana for a business trip. While our fathers were discussing politic matters, we were out bonding over the special things we had alike. From annoying tutors and their tiring lessons, to little sisters and their childish antics.

Now I'm sitting in my room, well, the room I was given to stay in, waiting for the dinner bell to sound.

I'm quite tired, to be honest, the 3 hour drive from our home to Troacia didn't help.

I glanced at my suitcase, sitting in the corner of the room, waiting to be unpacked.

Should I? But I can't be bothered. Oh forget it, I'll just ask Charlotte to do it later. She loves doing those sorts of stuff anyway, organising, shopping, dressing up, you name it.

The massive clock on the wall showed 18:35.

25 minutes left.

I sighed. Time always seems to go slower when you're hungry and don't have food.

Getting up from the bed, I turned off the light and walked out of my room. Just as I was closing the door behind me, I heard another door shut. Turning around, I saw a fair, blonde-haired girl outside another one of the doors along the corridor. I recognized her as Aurora, Damien and Alex's sister.

She spotted me and jumped slightly. 

"You scared me," She spoke, placing her hand on her heart as if to calm it.

I smiled. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to."

"It's alright!" She said brightly, "Would you mind if I call you Gavin?"

She remembers me.

"No, go ahead, I wouldn't mind. Then, can I call you princess?" 

"Of course, but why 'princess'?" She replied with a giggle. "I mean, it's just so different."

"Oh, I don't know, I suppose it's because Damien and Alex call you Aurora so..." I said grinning.

Her pleasant laughter sounded through the corridor.

"I see, that's fine then!"

"So, do you have any idea how to pass some time until dinner?"

"Ooh, I don't know, I was just heading to the kitchen to help out, but I'm pretty sure you wouldn't like it in there. I guess you could go to Alex and Damien's hangout; they're always lounging there anyway."

"They have a hangout?"

"Yep, it's this room right here," She replied, gesturing to one of the doors on the right.

She knocked on the door and called.

"Damien? Alex?"

"Yeah?" Came Damien's reply from inside.

"I'm coming in, Gavin's here too."

"Oh okay, sure."

She opened the door and I followed her inside.

The room had fairy lights and tapestries on the walls. There was a desk full of candles in one corner and just opposite, a black sofa with cushions on both sides. Overall, the room was quite messy, as expected.

Damien was on his phone while Alex played a game on the large flat screen on the wall.

"Hey Gavin," Alex said turning from the screen.

"Hey."

"You can sit down, you know," Damien spoke, shuffling up the sofa to free some space.

"Thanks."

Hearing the door open, I looked up to see Aurora walking out.

"Dinner will be ready in 20, make sure you're down by then."

"Okay."

The door shut and the next twenty minutes went like a blur.

Ding! Ding! The dinner bell sounded loudly through the castle.

"Oh, finally. I'm famished," Alex said, yawning as he stretched his arms in front of him.

"You hungry, Gavin?" Damien asked, turning to me.

"Yeah, starving."

"Cool, let's go then."

After dinner, I went to Charlotte's room and asked her to unpack my things for me.

She readily agreed, obviously.

Now I've got all of my things in drawers and closets; I have to say, Charl did a pretty good job.

Normally I wouldn't be tired at just quarter to nine, but today I can barely keep my eyes open.

Remind me to sleep early before leaving for a long trip again.

Tomorrow is going to be an interesting day...
