Jiro opened her eyes but couldn't see anything. She could hear two separate but continuous beeps. She blinked a couple times and was finally able to focus on the generic ceiling overhead that was a illuminated with a soft glow that was broken occasionally by a red, white, or blue flash. That was odd. She didn't remember being inside. In fact, they had been outside, for the test of courage when a gas began seeping in from all sides. Jiro sat up suddenly, the beeping nearest to her picking up speed as her body went back on alert but her confusion both grew and decreased when she noticed that she was in a hospital room. Opposite to her there was another bed with a bunch of equipment but no one in it. The lumps in the sheets told her that Hagakure was there. Checking herself she noticed the wire attaching to the heart monitor and the oxygen tube underneath her nose, but given how she had just woken up and no one seemed to be around she decided against moving or removing anything. Besides her, on the small night stand was her phone and some small cards. Through the window a dim light illuminated the floor.
Looking around she noticed that there were no clocks on the walls but given the light it was probably the middle of the night or something. The beeping was back to a slow steady pace. How long had she been here? Was everyone ok? With stiff joints Jiro reached for her phone only to find it thoroughly dead. If only Jamming-Whey were here right now. Not that a charger wouldn't have gotten the job done, but it would've been nice to catch up on anything that she may have missed while unconscious. She settled for watching the shimmer of the city lights on the curtains, the night life outside nothing more than a faint murmur that didn't quite reach them.
