Taking a deep breath, her eyes wander around the dirt field and she just takes it all in. It's just a simple field- a chain linked fence as the backboard, the dugouts just being a bench right behind the fence, small but simple bleachers and rubber base pads that they have to be careful with because they will slip under their cleats. Each player having experience with doing the chalk lines because it has to be done with a manual machine so they can have base lines for practices and games. It's such a simple field that other teams would make fun of them for it. Because it's just dirt and grass with a fence.
But it means so much to her.
Eirin became the Ace on this field.
She pitched her first ever perfect game, no hits and no runners on base, on this field. She practically perfected each and every single one of her pitches here.
"Ri-chan, aren't you going to finish raking the mound?" The voice of her best friend pulls her out of her head. "That lady from Seidou is waiting for you.
Eirin's brown eyes snap over to him, sending him guilty smile. "Yeah, sorry. I got distracted." She steps off the rubber in the middle of the small hill of dirt and starts to rake in dirt to fill in the holes that were created from the cleats of all the pitchers. Trying to continue to do her work, she is distracted by another thought. Her head snaps up and she stares at the chest nut brown haired male. "Did you just say lady from Seidou?"
The brown eyed, chestnut brown haired male starts to laugh. "Did you just realize that? Yeah the glasses wearing lady that you told me about who scouted Eijun-nii last year. She has been talking to coach this whole time, I heard snippets but your brother has been showing everyone the videos your grandfather takes of you pitching apparently."
"Aotsuki Wataru, please say you are joking."
"I'm not joking! Here, why don't I finish up and you go talk to her." The now named best friend, Wataru takes the rake from her hands and pushes her towards the area where all their bags are.
Standing with their coach, is the same lady she met last year when her brother was scouted, Takashima Rei. The two females meet eyes and the older one of the two gives the younger a small smile. Her coach looks in the direction their guest is looking and meets eyes with Eirin. Her coach beckons her over with his hand, a big smile on his face. Eirin shakes her thoughts away, breaking into a small jog and runs around the fence to join the two adults. She stops jogging a few feet away, the metal spikes of her cleats scrapping against the cement and walks the final few feet up to the two grown ups.
"It's nice to see you again, Sawamura-chan."
Eirin gives the older woman a small smile, "Yes, it's been awhile Takashima-san. How can I help you?"
Her coach happily bursts out, as he was really excited about the news. "You are being scouted! Eirin, this is great!"
The young Sawamura giggles softly at her coach's excitement, looking at Takashima Rei. "You haven't seen me play live at all."
"Well, that is correct but your brother is very good at making people watch your highlight videos. The coach is very interested in the way you play. And I can see that is because you have adapted to playing on a sandlot. I will be watching your game tomorrow but we would like you to come to Seidou for baseball aboard."
Eirin chews on her bottom lip, thinking about it. "I don't know.. A lot of the third year players are planning to go to the high school our senpais are currently attending here in Nagano." She wasn't sure that she wants to leave Nagano and her friends/teammates, including Wataru. The two best friends have never been so far apart and going to different schools.
Rei notices she is reluctant, "You can even see the fields and our equipment like your brother did. I think that will help with your decision. We can talk about it when we talk with your family."
And that's how Sawamura Eirin ended up in Tokyo, standing at the gates of her brother's high school, Seidou High School. Wearing her team jacket which is all black with purple and white stripes running down the arms, a white and gray dragon on the left side of the front of the jacket and Sawamura E. in all white with the number '1' under it on her back with a heather gray v-neck and a pair of black straight legged jeans with a pair of all black PF Flyers. Hanging from her left shoulder is a small duffel bag filled with some practice clothes, her cleats in their protective bag and her glove with a ball in the pocket to hold the shape. Her brown hair tied up in a ponytail and her bangs brushing against her forehead gently. She stares at the school, humming softly. It looks quite nice and it's a lot bigger than most schools in Nagano.
Takashima joins her at the front of the school not to long after she arrives and leads her to the baseball fields. Eirin stares at everything is wonder, not used to seeing such nice equipment for practice.
Rei smirks lightly as she watches the young girl look around in awe. And the one person the older woman wanted Eirin to see pops up right on time.
"RIRI?!" The overly excited voice of the older Sawamura sibling pulls Eirin from looking at the nice field and equipment.
A grin grows on her face when she sees her brother running straight towards her with his arms opened wide. "EIJI NII-CHAN!" He tackles the young girl, causing the siblings to fall to the ground. Her duffel bag falls to the ground right next to them. After hugging for a few minutes, Eijun gets off his sister and helps her up.
"What are you doing here?"
Rei answers for Eirin, "I am showing her around as she is possibly thinking about joining us for baseball abroad."
Eirin tries to voice out that she is not completely thinking about it but she gets interrupted by Eijun before she can say a single thing.
"Can I show my sister around?! PLEASE!"
"Well," Rei looks at the female Sawamura. "Is that okay with you?"
