Fireworks (chapter 35)

~Boom~Boom~boom~
Booms... where was it coming from? What was the loud sounds hurting my ears. Dabi placed headphones over my ears so my ears wouldn't hurt. I looked up and seen colors in the sky. Fireworks. This was beautiful. The colors mixing with the faint pink sky that was now turning dark. My eyes twinkled in the night sky with colors all around. I smiled big. Seeing the fireworks explode was enough to make me forget my troubles. It was so calming. Soon memories flooded through my mind.

One memory was in the summer festival when I was 6. A year Before I met Touya and Toga. Mother had taken me to see the fireworks. That time in my life was hard. Mother and who I thought was my father constantly fighting every night. This was my only escape from my undeniable reality. It was a warm summer night. Mother hand taken Lily and I to see the fireworks. I was 6 at the time and Lily was only a year. That night I looked at all the fireworks and I was so amazed by everything Mother promised to take me every year.. however things suddenly changed. The next month she moved away and didn't contact us for 6 months. The second time was with Touya and Toga. It was summer in July. We sat on the roof of the building we'd meet up at and hangout in. That night Father and Stepmother Ruby had plans so they wouldn't care as much. That night was magical. It had been their first times watching Fireworks. Nether one had experienced fireworks. I was happy they were happy. Their eyes glowed and shined. It was wonderful. Toga looked so happy she could have died from happiness. Touya on the other hand cried that night. He never told us why. I've always wondered why. Though he cried he was happy. The 3rd time was Lily and I. I snuck lily out for the night and pulled her out the castle to the town where they lit the fireworks. It was 2 months after Mother passed away. It was last year. Lily and i watched the Fireworks. I was still trying to fix everything after being tortured for 2 months. Lily cried and I held her as she cried. After the fireworks we went to visit every place our mother took us. Having those memories cross my mind today really made me emotional. I was watching the fireworks go up into the sky then explode into tiny sparkles of light of color in the sky. It was quite cold but I managed. I felt a jacket being put on me. I turned around and saw Hawks. He smiled.

"So you left work early so you can watch the Fireworks? And all alone?" He said while smiling. Wait no... not this again.

"No actually.... with m..my boyfriend... yeah... my boyfriend. He went to make sure Deku and Bakugo got the correct place to watch the Fireworks... yeah... hehe" I said laughing awkwardly. I took off his sweater and handed it to him. He looked at me weirdly questioning if I was serious or not. He got a bit closer to my face. I looked away quickly. I was against a pole. He smiled.

"You like me don't you? I wouldn't tell your bo" he was slapped by Bakugo. Wait what? Bakugo was here? Does that mea-

"Kacchan! Don't be rude!" Said Deku running up to us. I sighed because I was holding my breath. Deku apologized.

"No it's ok. I was messing with her. No harm done" said Hawks. Lately he's been clingy and asking if I wanted to go out with him for dinner.

"Oh really? No harm done? Aren't you a pro hero? Shouldn't you be respecting your Coworkers? She has a boyfriend. Not everyone wants you." Bakugo said crossing his arms. Hawks smiled.

"I know I know. I was messing with her. I wouldn't make a move on her knowing she's with somebody. Anyways I have to leave back to my shift." Said Hawks flying away. I shivered because of the wind. I sat on the bench sighing looking up at the Fireworks.

"Thanks Bakugo and Deku. How'd you know about this spot?" I asked. Still looking up at the Fireworks. Deku sat next to me on the bench.

"I invited them...." said Dabi. I looked back and didn't see him. I looked in front of me again and there he stood. I blushed a bit.

"Boyfriend? So I'm your boyfriend now? That's nice to know bunny" he said. I blushed red and looked away. He grabbed my chin with his thumb and index finger making me face him. He pulled my face close and kissed me. I went red and got up and walked away a bit. I looked at the Fireworks again. It went on for another 30 minutes. I was still shivering a bit. Dabi took off his sweater and put it over me. He stood behind me and rested his chin on my shoulder. His face was warm. Warm like a freshly washed blanket in winter. We walked to a restaurant down the block and ate. Dabi had makeup on him so no one would notice it was him.

It was a beautiful night. That same night Deku was amazed by everything because Bakugo had asked Deku to Marry him. Yes we were still 17 but he asked Deku if they'd make a promise to get married at 26. Deku was shocked. I was shocked. Dabi wasn't really shocked. I wonder why. Did he help Bakugo plan all this? He knew that Deku and I would have to fake our deaths in 3 months. How cruel. Deku Said Yes to Bakugo. I cheered for Bakugo and Deku. Bakugo and Deku went to Bakugos new apartment he recently bought. I went home. Dabi came with me. I made him sleep in the living room for the night. He didn't want to. It was funny watching him get mad over it. Around 12 am I let him come to my room. Nothing happened so that's good. I don't think I'd be able to survive the next day 😙☕️
