Del/Lilah/Delilah and Daniel/Dan/Danny are siblings. Del is fourteen, Danny is eleven.

Rain, Alex and Sam are siblings. Sam is sixteen, Rain is fourteen and Alex is twelve.

They are all cousins.

Sam, Rain and Alex lived with their mom and dad, who rented property from Del and Danny's parents. They all lived in the same yard.

Rain and Del were super duper close. They were the bestest of friends. Just- MMM WHOLESOME COUSINS.

Danny and Alex were also best friends. They catched bugs together.

Sam is there, she is the oldest, she took care of all of them and played with them while their parents were all at work (their parents really did work a lot). Being a supportive big sister/cousin and stuff.

Then one day Sam, Rain and Alex's dad lost his job. Him and his wife were making enough money together, but his wife alone didn't make enough money to support their entire family (the five of them). Their dad got a job, but it was far far away in the middle of nowhere, near a Dark Forbidden forest (very creative and original, I know, the important dude was pretty chuffed with himself for coming up with that) and the five of them had to move away. Sam is twelve, Rain is ten, Alex is eight. All of the children were absolutely distraught, Del's dad had to hold them as they drive away, they were so upset for the next couple of weeks.

Sam was kind of upset. She knew this was going to happen, their dad was severely underpaid and unappreciated, if he didn't quit he was going to be fired.

Rain is upset because they might not see their best friend in a long while and they weren't good at making friends. They were scared and upset. 

Alex is angry, everything was perfect, they were a big happy family, he got to play with his best friend everyday and they never had to travel to see family. Now all that was gone.

So, they meet this dude named Flynn. He shows them the places. All like "Welcome to our safe haven, the place where kids can go when the adults just become a little too much and you need some actual support".

Their parents start fighting, money is dry (like my home town used to be, no water, draught. It was scary.), Idk if that's the expression but honestly who cares, point is their parents are fighting and the kids don't like it.

One night Sam is walking past her parents' bedroom door, her siblings are already alseep, listening to them argue over something stupid again, getting ready to head off to bed when they hear them saying something really bad. And she just thinks "oh shit... The time I have been waiting for has come"  and she hears her mom stomping to the door, she quickly scrambles off to their shared bedroom and shuts the door. And then it just sinks in.
"Holy Frick our parents are getting divorced. Mom and daddy aren't in love anymore. Oh no"

Little man Alex is angry and upset about the divorce and rightfully so, he feels like it's their fault that their parents got divorced, he's angry that he couldn't do anything, all the healthy things a nine year old should be thinking.

Rain is sad. Just sad, they knew this was going to happen, they could feel it, but they weren't ready. Their family used to be so happy, they all lived together as one big happy family that got along, but now their family has been torn apart. And they really don't like it. They speak to Alex, telling him it's not his fault, that he couldn't do anything, that it's going to be okay, and then when their finished they cry in their sister's arms like "holy what. I can't believe this has happened. Mom and dad aren't in love anymore"

Sam is just kind of happy the yelling stopped. She makes sure her siblings know it's going tie be okay, they're going to be alright, their going to live with their dad, they're still going to see their mom, all's going to be alright.
