"You want a kiss under the mistletoe?" I laugh lifting Mochi up in the air. For the first time I got to meet him and Lucinia has grown a liking to him.

"What about my kiss?" Kio pouts.

"Give daddy a kiss," I coo turning mochi towards Kio. He laughs taking Mochi to the couch.

It's Christmas morning, a holiday I always enjoyed. Even being 15 it was still exciting to run down the stairs and see what I got. All the music, jolly people, lights, and movies. But now .. it's just not the same. Not without my mother.

I tilt my head up letting my tears run into the depths of my eyelids and join Kio on the couch. Amelie and Val are counting how many gifts they have as Vereena rushes to wrap her gifts.

"Did you get me something?" Kio childishly smiles. I did get him something. He's always told me how much he loved mochi so I got him a keychain with a dog that looks like him. It has an "M" on it as well. Then I paired the gift with a new cologne he wanted.

I've never been good at gifts, they say to get meaningful gifts but nothing ever comes to mind. I'm not going to make some photo book for everyone.

The doorbell rings and Amelie springs up to answer it, "Trevor!"

Kio sucks his teeth reminding me of what a bad idea this was. Trevor ruffles my hair sitting on the floor. He smiles big and you can practically smell the disgust off of Kio.

"Don't be a scruge," Trevor snickers at him. I giggle with him and Kio shoots me a death glare.

"Yeah don't be a scruge kio!" I laugh pulling him off the couch and turn up the music. I start to dance playfully with him before he throws me over his shoulder and back onto the couch.

"Trevor you didn't have to bring gifts!" Amelie smiles planting 6 boxes onto the tree skirt. Did he get a gift for Kio?

"Mom! Hurry up!" Valentina yells. The sentence makes my heart drop, I yelled that every morning.

Roxie comes in with a camera skipping happily, "who's ready to open presents?" She hands out Trevor's gifts first; Amelie got a box of new VS perfume testers, Val got a box of chocolates, Vereena got a coffee cup, and Roxie got a 'worlds best mom' shirt.

And Trevor got me a small dress for Lucinia— who is still sniffing through presents. Trevor hands Kio a tiny box next, everyone cocks their brows. When Kio lifts open the lid there's a small key. He gives Trevor a lingering look as Trevor smiles. A key? To where?

After everyone tears through their presents there's a small black velvet box Val hands to me,

I swallow then turn to him, he leans on his palm waiting for me to open the box. I smile undoing the ribbon. My eyes come to face with a glimmering gorgeous gold and purple ring. The purple blends in with the rose gold shank and white diamonds between the crystals.

It's beautiful. It's like he knew exactly what belongs on me. Tears dwell up in my eyes as I turn to look at Kio. His eyes still examining me, I sometimes wonder what's he's thinking about while he stares at me.
