"Flight 216 getting ready to depart, please report to gate 15 for boarding," the loudspeakers announce. I bump back into reality watching Mandy as she sets her faux mink fur suitcases on the conveyor belt.

"Babe your turn," Kio says gently in my ear. I let go of his hand and step into the security scanner. After Kio finishes we both set our luggage down only taking small bags.

"When does our plane leave?" Mandy asks joining Natalie on the floor. I pass out everyone's tickets sitting on Kio's lap.

"Should be in about forty or thirty minutes," I tell her. We've been at the airport for almost three hours now.

It didn't take much convincing everyone to board the next plane to New York City. I made a group chat and immediately got 9 pings of 'YES!'. Not much planning either, we booked a hotel for about 4 days.

"Flight 218 getting ready to depart, please report to gate 24 for boarding," and that's our cue. All of us practically run to the gates desperate for a comfortable seat.

We reach business seating and sit in pairs of two, Kio and I in the middle. He helps put my bags in the bin along with his then orders two drinks for us. The window is halfway open showing the dry ground.

"How long is the ride?"

"Hour and a half," I smile at Kio when he takes his seat. We share AirPods taking turns picking the music we want to listen to.

"Is everything free in here?" Mandy practically yells.

"Yup," I answer nonchalantly. Mandy and Bella order crackers and sparkling water— the kind that tastes gross if you don't put ice.

"All passengers fasten your seat belts and prepare for take-off," the man on the speaker says. We all power off our phones checking our seat belts.

Kio laughs at me when I cringe at my ears popping, the first time I rode a plane I wanted to jump off immediately.

"Not funny," I give him a slap on the chest.

"Very funny."

"Is not."

"Is so."

"Is not," I giggle.

"Is s-"

"Oh my god will you two shut the fuck up?" Mandy yells turning around abruptly. I burst into laugher as Kio throws a glass of water at her.

"What the fuck Kio!" Mandy screams with her mouth wide open, my stomach almost hurts from laughing.

"Shh!" Bella says shoving a cracker in Mandy's mouth.

I'm waken up by a swipe on my chin, Kio's eyes searching mine. I smile biting his finger. People all around the plane start moving out of their seats directed by a flight attendant.
