How do you plan a robbery?

Do they buy the ski masks first then look at the map of wherever their robbing? Is there a definite purpose or is it just the high? Maybe both?

This time there was going to be no ski mask, no map, or no high. I've never snuck around someone's house, the thought alone sounds terrifyingly foreign. How can you be so comfortable beforehand and not worry about getting caught? Or even going to jail?

This was going to be thought out and statistical. At 2 am, my two ponytails, and black hoodie. I'll go in through the side door since I already have the key. Finding my way up to her room should be easy, plus not many people live there.

"Earth to Emma?"

"Yes?" I clear my throat and neatly set the ice cream boxes back in the freezer. Amelie folds a blanket over Val's probably frozen body then leaves upstairs.

"Are you going to that concert I'm taking the girls to?" Vereena asks as she helps tidy up the kitchen with me.

"Yea why not?" I smile finishing up. I need a distraction— a way out, because who knows how long this will go on for. That familiar gut feeling tells me Kio and I are not over just yet. And I'm not completely sure if that's good or not.

I check my clock and swallow, twenty more minutes. Vereena gives me the side eye and rubs my shoulder.

"Come on it's getting late, go get some sleep," I smile sitting next to Val. Hopefully, it can throw her off.

We exchange goodnights before she leaves me all alone, in the dark, with a bouncing leg. This is undoubtedly the most nerve wracking thing I've ever done. Mom always told me invading someone's space is the worst thing you can do. But I've had it, they've both done it to me. It's time I get back at them.

Another five minutes go by, this time biting my nails instead of bouncing my poor leg. What will happen if he catches me? We'll be forced to talk that's for sure, it's the last thing we need. Space is something we never get, but I'm invading his now aren't I?

It's time.

I push every doubtful thought to the back of my head and spring up to the coat rack. I rip me large sweater off leaving me only in a Calvin Klein bra. Scanning through each of the coats feels like hours until my eyes catch a long black zip up hoodie.

After putting on sneakers I take one more huff of fresh air and lock the door behind me. The weather is freezing cold, which isn't doing any justice to my thin joggers. I continue down the sidewalk looking around to see if anyone is following me.

I plan to catch the bus that rides all night, it always stops about two blocks from here. Where the rims of the city are, it shouldn't be too crowded at night. 2 am is when the route near his house is— the bus stop is only one block away.

I start to pick up my pace and eventually turn the second block, the bus stop looks like it's glowing I almost want to run. The bright lights come around the corner and slow down where a middle-aged man and I sit.
