I sat anxiously in divination. My heart ached with worry after today’s daily prophet headline. Another mass breakout? They really need to install better security there. I impatiently sat at my desk, tapping my fingers against the hardwood of my desk and continuously looking out the window. Draco, who was sitting next to me, placed his hand over mine. I looked down at our hands and then over at him. He gave me a shy smile, nodding reassuringly. Trelaney spoke about her lesson, me waiting for it to be over.
…
When the class ended, I began to pack my bag, not wanting to be late to Dark Arts. As everyone began to file out of the class, I heaved my bag over my shoulder, only it to be lifted out of my hands by draco. He threw both bags over his shoulder, and we began making our way out of the classroom, making sure our heads were down. A firm hand grasped my wrist. I yelped out in fear, and turned around to see professor trelawney.
“Professor? Is everything alright?” I asked, trying to pull my arm free.
But I couldn’t. Her breaths were loud, and raspy. She looked me in the eyes, and spoke in a voice that wasn’t like hers.THE BLOOD OF EVIL WILL BE SPILT.
THE INNOCENT WILL PERISH.
DAUGHTERS AND SONS ALIKE WILL LEAVE.
DEATHS BLOODED AND BANDAGED HANDS
WILL STEAL THE LIVES OF MANY.
SACRIFICES WILL BE MADE.
FOR THE ONE WHO SAID GOODBYE
WILL SAY GOODBYE ONCE MORE
...PERMANENTLY…A flood of fear washed over me. My heart raced and my face drained of color. The professor coughed, letting go of my hand and placing hers on her chest. She stuck her tongue out as if she had eaten something awful and turned to look back at me. She weaved her eyebrows, and looked at me with concern in her eyes.
“Are you alright, deary?” she asked, placing a hand on my shoulder. “You look like you’ve seen a ghost.” She chuckled at this.
I looked back at draco and brushed her hand off.
“Everything is fine. I’ll- we’ll just be going.” I pointed to Draco and myself, and we hurried out of that room.

I made it back to my dorm room and sat on my bed. The events of today hadn’t been out of the ordinary. I went to classes, nearly got tortured a few times, nothing out of the ordinary. Other than my Divination class, which now was canceled because Headmaster Snape found no use in her class, everything was normal. Or was it? Was torturing students because of misbehavior normal? Was teaching students how to perform the dark arts normal? This year it was. This year, death eaters crowded the halls, watching every student and reporting to He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named.
Trelawny’s words echoed through my mind throughout today and now was no exception.
“Permanently…” I repeated her words in a whisper. “What does that mean?”
I layed down on my bed, looking up at my ceiling. I couldn’t get my thoughts straight as her words still repeated in my head, bouncing off the walls of my mind.
“Why would she say that to me…?” I whispered, rubbing my wrist.
Was something bad about to happen? Was she trying to warn me of something?
“The one who said goodbye… will say goodbye once more?” I rubbed my eyes, trying to figure out who she was talking about.
I lay on my bed the rest of the evening, waiting for answers. But they never came. And I knew, I just knew, they wouldn't come for a while.
