I walked down the cold, dark alleyway. I looked at the wet stone pavement as my black robes flowed behind me. My heart raced with not anticipation, but fear. I squeezed Draco's hand tighter as every inch of my body quivered. Mother and Father were in Azkaban, as well as Draco's father. I had been living at the Malfoy's, Narcissa being my motherly figure. I clenched my eyes shut, listening to the clopping of the heel of my boot on the damp rock.
"Cmon Cissy." Bellatrix laughed quietly, her heavily lidded eyes flickering all over the place. "Don't want to keep him waiting."
Bellatrix let out a cackle that reminded very much of my mothers. Evil and cold. A shiver tickled down my spine as she laughed maniacally.
"You doing alright?" Draco whispered, leaning in closer to my ear.
"Do I look 'alright' to you?!" I whisper-snapped at him.
"Sorry..." He whispered, standing back up.
"I'm sorry... Im just... Im scared..." I whispered, shaming myself for my tone.
"I understand. This is... nerve wracking... to say the least."
I nodded, showing him I understood. The four of us continued to walk for a few minutes before Narcissa stopped in front of a small, black building. It was narrow, and very old looking. There were no signs or windows. Just a small house, with room for a door. Narcissa followed her older sister into the depressing building. I hesitated, fearing what was inside. Draco grabbed my arm, pushing my back against the wall. He grabbed my chin, lifting my head up slightly. I looked up into his face, shaded by his hood.
"It's going to be alright." He whispered, I didn't respond. "I promise."
I looked into his eyes at these familiar, broken words. Tears began to well up in my eyes as he made the promise.
"Dragon... I'm scared..." I whispered back.
"I know... I am too. But we can't let him see that fear." He responded.
I sniffled, knowing nothing of what would happen next.
"Can you promise me something?" I asked.
"What is it?"
"Don't go to his side."
"What do you mean?"
"Don't join him. No matter what he promises you. No matter what the circumstances are. We both know you don't want this. Neither of us want this." He hesitated for a moment. "Please..."
"I promise." He sighed, but hesitated. "But only as long as you can say the same."
"I promise." I chuckled quietly.
He placed his lips on mine, the pitter patter of the rain on the sidewalk was the only sound around us.
"Draco. Mary." Narcissa interrupted us, shaking her head with a smile. "He's waiting. The Dark Lord won't be patient much longer." Narcissa chuckled sweetly.
"Yes ma'am." Draco and I synced.
We both blushed a bit as we followed Narcissa into the gloomy building.
"What is with your mum? Did you not tell her?" I whispered, the tight hall surrounding me.
"No, I didn't. I was too scared to see how she would react." Draco mumbled sheepishly.
"You, my love, are an idiot. Do you know that?"
"Ah, my children." Came a raspy voice, "We meet again. Please, sit. You are my guests, after all."
I looked into the cold, red, snake-like eyes of Lord Voldemort as he directed his hand across from his arm chair. I quickly looked away, following draco to the short, black loveseat. I sat, looking around at the many death eaters in their masks and robes. Draco sat next to me, also observing the crowd.
"As you know, today is a special day. A day where you are gifted with my mark. A mark to show that you are one of my following." Draco and I both nodded as he spoke. He stood, walking across the room towards us. "Don't worry, you will still have normal schooling. But will be tasked with something very simple. Let us start, shall we?"
"Yes sir." Draco and I mumbled.
Voldemort grabbed my chin, shoving his nails into my cheeks and forcing my head upward from the ground. My hood fell off my head as I tried my best to stay calm.
"Let's see here. You are a very pretty girl. Strong yet innocent looking." He stopped to think for a moment. "You are to spy on dumbledore. See what his plans are."
I mumbled, Draco's eyes flickered between the two of us.
"Excuse me?" He snapped, tightening his grip on my chin.
"Yes my lord." I repeated myself.
"Good. Give me your left arm." He ordered.
Hesitantly, I held out my arm, looking back at the floor. He grabbed it and pushed his wand into my forearm. Voldemort whispered some odd incantation and I felt something burn into my arm. I bit my lip, clenching my eyes shut. I felt his wand be removed from my arm, and I pulled my arm back into my robes. I examined the new scar, shaking slightly as I watched the snake wiggle slightly.
"Stand." Voldemort barked at Draco, and he did as told. "Wand."
Draco reached into his robe and pulled out his wand handing gently to the snake-like man.
"What is it?"
"Hawthorn wood."
"Not the wood. The core!" Voldemort snapped.
"Oh. Unicorn hair."
The dark lord continued to examine his wand. His lips curled into an evil smirk.
"Yes. This will do nicely." He threw Draco's wand back at him, "You job, Draco, is to kill Dumbledore."
Gasps filled the room. I stared up at Voldemort, a whimper escaping Narcissa's lips. Draco closed his eyes tightly.
"Yes, My Lord." Draco Whispered.
"Arm. Now, my boy."
Draco obeyed and I watched as Voldemort burned his mark into Draco's arm. His expression didn't change as the mark became visible in his arm.
