Perfect Storm

Chapter One

I know I already had like two chapters up but I decided to restart and write this differently. Anyway hope you enjoy the new and improved chapter

It's 9:00 am on 5 August 1991 when Jasmine wakes up. Today, she thinks, is going to be the biggest day of her life because not only is it finally her eleventh birthday, it marks the age where she can finally start at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with her best friend, Draco Malfoy.

She rolls out of bed eager to start her day, and hoping that when she gets downstairs her letter will be waiting for her. She quickly gets dressed, brushes her hair, and runs down the stairs. The smell of bacon and the sound of sizzling leads her to the kitchen where both of her parents are working to make breakfast.

"Good morning mum, good morning dad." Jasmine greets with a huge smile.

"Good morning sweetheart. Happy birthday!" Her father replies. "Your mother is finishing up breakfast for us. It's your favorite too."

"PANCAKES?!" Jasmine shouts excitedly.

"Yes dear. Let's go set the table while the pancakes finish cooking."

"Okay daddy."

Jasmine helps her father set the table and eagerly sits and waits in her seat for the pancakes to finish cooking. Soon enough they do and she dives in. As she's eating she hears a tap on the window and looks up to see her father walk towards it and open said window. After he does so an owl swoops in and drops a letter on the table. Her math reaches over to grab it and smiles as she reads who it's addressed to.

"What does it say mum?" Jasmine asks curiously, her fingers crossed under the table in hopes that it's her Hogwarts letter.

"Why don't you open it and find out darling." Her mother replies handing it over.

'Miss J. Lovelace, Last Bedroom on the Left' the front reads. She flips it over and tears the envelope open.

'Dear Jasmine,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find an enclosed list of all necessary books and equipment. Term begins 1 September and we expect your owl no later than 21 August.

"It's my Hogwarts letter!" Jasmine excitedly told her parents.

"That's great honey! Now finish eating and get cleaned up. We're celebrating your birthday with the Malfoy's today." Her father replied

"Okay daddy."

Jasmine quickly finished her breakfast before making her way back upstairs to her room where she picked out a light blue sundress to wear over to the Malfoy residence. She was excited to see Draco, her best friend practically since she was born. She hadn't seen him all summer because both of their respective parents were busy with their jobs at the ministry. Though, they had made sure to write each other frequently regardless of the fact that neither of them had their own owls.

Approximately two hours later Jasmine and her parents made it to the huge castle-like Malfoy Manor. They walked in the front door and were immediately greeted warmly by Narcissa Malfoy. Jasmine instantly ran up to the woman and hugged her, Narcissa very much was like a second mother to her and she loved her dearly.

"Hi Cissy, I missed you. It's been forever." Jasmine said while still in Narcissa's embrace.

"It certainly feels that lovely. Happy birthday though! Did you get your letter today?"
