A few weeks later Jasmine and Draco were walking to their first flying lesson, well "lesson" as they had both been proficient at flying on a broom since they could walk. The first weeks at Hogwarts dragged as it was introductory learning, which is helpful for the muggle-borns; however, it was already known to those like Jasmine and Draco who grew up surrounded by magic.

"I still can't believe they don't allow first years on the team. I get that we're young but Slytherin would totally benefit from us being on the team." Draco ranted as they reached the quidditch pitch.

"I agree. We've been playing it together for years now and have pretty much already mastered it." Jasmine agreed.

They stand next to each other, both with brooms at their right and share a smile as they wait for their Professor to join them to start the lesson. As they're waiting Draco notices Harry and Ron walking to the pitch. He scoffs and rolls his eyes before nudging Jasmine to silently make her aware. She rolls her eyes at Draco as a witch the spiky hair and a whistle walks to the center of their class's circle.

"Welcome to your first flying lesson. Well, what are you waiting for? Everyone step up to the left side of their broomstick. Come on now, hurry up. Stick your right hand over the broom and say, Up!" Madam Hooch says.

"Up!" Jasmine and Draco shouted at the same time, sharing a smug look as the brooms flew into their hands with ease. They silently waited for everyone else to manage and silently laughed at the students who were struggling.

"Now, once you've got hold of your broom, I want you to mount it. And grip it tight, you don't want to be sliding off the end. When I blow my whistle, I want each of you to kick off from the ground, hard. Keep your broom steady, hover for a moment, and then lean forward slightly and touch back down. On my whistle, 3...2..." She blows her whistle and a small sort of pudgy boy named Neville lifts off the ground, seemingly unwillingly.

They watch as Neville is flung all over the place, completely out of control of his broom. Madam Hooch tries to help him but she has to quickly move out of the way before he hits her. Soon after his cloak gets stuck on a statue where he hangs until it rips. He falls and lands on a torch holder, then he ends up falling again and landing on the ground, where he clutches his wrist.

"Oh, oh, oh, oh dear. It's a broken wrist. Good boy, come on now, up you get." Draco sees a clear sphere that Neville must have dropped, he smirks and grabs it. "Everyone's to keep their feet firmly on the ground while I take Mr.Longbottom to the hospital wing. Understand? If I see a single broom in the air, the one riding it will find themselves out of Hogwarts before they can say, Quidditch."

Draco holds the sphere and laughs, throwing it in the air and catching it. " Did you see his face? Maybe if the fat lump had given this a squeeze, he'd have remembered to fall on his fat ass."

"Draco, don't be a git. Just leave it." Jasmine tries to reason, Draco's about to do so before someone else gets involved.

"Give it here Malfoy." Harry yells.

"Leave it alone Potter, I'm actually trying to help."

"As if, Lovelace. You probably just want to help him."

"Fine then Potter, you try and get it from him. Draco, why don't you put it somewhere for Longbottom to find, maybe on the roof?"

"Great idea Jaz." Draco hops on his broom and begins to hover next to Jasmine. "What's the matter, Potter? Bit beyond your reach?"

Draco soars off, Harry following. Jasmine is cheering Draco on until he notices they're by McGonagall's office. She makes eye contact with him and points towards her office before motioning for him to come down before he gets caught. He throws it into the air towards her window and quickly soars back down and lands next to Jasmine.

"Let's just hope he gets expelled now." Draco said.

"Serves him right for getting involved. I had the situation handled." Jasmine replies.

"Sure you did. I wasn't going to give it to you."

"As if! Can you honestly name one time where you've ignored me when it comes to making a bad decision?"

"Shut up."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"THEY DID WHAT?!" Draco shouted as Pansy informed him of the news later that day while they were eating dinner.
"Yeah, 'youngest seeker in a century.' He should've been expelled for that." Victoria agreed.
"Apparently 'the chosen one' can do no wrong. Bloody unfair. If it were any one of us up their Snape would've had our heads, and he loves us." Dylan added in.
"Well, favors us. Let's face it the man isn't capable of love." Jasmine jokes.
"Still. I can't believe they made him seeker. What happened to first years not being allowed on the team?"
"It's definitely annoying. I mean they wouldn't let Draco on the team even though Draco's dad got involved, and that says a lot because no one says no to Lucius Malfoy."
"That's what I'm saying. Wait until he hears about this, he's going to flip."
"Definitely."
Later that night Jasmine is in bed after a long day of classes and an even longer rant session with Draco, she reflects on the year so far and is pleased that she's made so many friends and that her and Draco are closer than ever. She's excited to see what the rest of the year brings and with that final thought she rolls over and falls asleep.
Sorry that this chapter is kinda all over the place and that it's both short and late, life has been kinda hectic but I won't bore you with all the details. Important note, I go by Avery now and I use they/them pronouns. Anyway I hope you liked it and I promise it'll get better as we get closer to fifth year.
