POV change, anyone? 😃I had barely slept the last few nights I was stuck inside this stupid tower. The clown made me feel uneasy and sleeping would make me defenseless to whatever his motives were. Pinhead didn't help my paranoia, either. His beady eyes were always drilling into me. I couldn't help but wonder if he was working with Hisoka and I accidentally put a target on my back.
It wasn't until Gon and his lil' posse passed through did I feel at ease. The familiar faces were nice.
Moments after they arrived, I watched as the doors open, letting sunlight flow through. I had to squint my eyes to protect them from the harsh rays. My hand shaded my face to help as they adjusted.
"Congratulations on escaping Trick Towers, everyone!" We were praised, but I couldn't see by who. This damn sun needed to turn its brightness settings down a bit. "All that remains now are the fourth phase and final phase."
When I could finally see what was in front of me, I took note of my new surroundings. Off in the distance was an island, which the examiner was pointing at. "The fourth place will take place over there, on Zevil Island. Now, let's proceed!"
One of the assistants brought rolled over a cart that held a box inside. "To begin, I need each of you to draw lots. It will decide who you hunt and who hunts you. In this box, there's exactly twenty-five cards. Which means that one of the numbered cards in here corresponds with your badge. Now, pick the cards in the order you exited the tower. Alright, which of you is first?"
My brain was steaming as I tried to figure out the math behind that. There couldn't be even match-ups with twenty-five players, right? Until I realized I was being dumb and it made perfect sense, considering it wasn't duos going against each other. Rather, it was like a weird cycle.
I watched as Hisoka strolled up to the box with not a care in the world. Something about the way he moved was so hypnotic. My trance was broken as I noted that it was my turn to fish for a card.
I scurried up to the box and snatched up a card. I hope I know who the number belongs to, someone easy to take down, too. Speaking of numbers, I stashed my badge in one of my pockets.
Gittarackur began making his move towards the cart, his limbs making their clicking noises as he walked. I grimaced at the sound.
Once he returned back to his spot, after a rather uncomfortable stare down, I drifted off. Waiting around was such a drag. Just a few more days, I told myself. A few more days and I'll be away from the weirdly attractive killer clown and pinhead. A few more days and I'll be able to lay in my bed again. Sweet, sweet bed. Oh, and I'll have a Hunter's license to rub in my parents' faces if I ever see the again.
I must've been spaced out a lot longer than it felt because the next thing I knew, we were revealing who we had gotten as a target. I tore the sticker off of my card, revealing #80 underneath it. Shit, I had no idea who that was. I should've paid more attention and stopped fucking around so much. Why did I always do this to myself?
The guy with the Mohawk began explaining how each of their cards were recorded and tallied. "You're free to dispose of your cards if you'd like, it makes no difference," He notified, "Your objective is to steal your target's idea badge."
"Oh, good, so we don't have to kill each other," One of the brothers sighed, relieved at the new information. I couldn't help but agree. It's not that I had a problem killing, which was obvious from the last phase, but it wasn't my preferred method. Rather using my nen to fuck with my target's head from afar and making them wish they were dead was better. In my opinion, at least.
